or, do away with posts counted in the lounge and podium. posts only count in the legitimate operation of slickdeals and not the areas that are prone to chit chat and spamming. reset all post that originated in the lounge and podium to zero.

I am going to start selling a special kind of "White Out" for computer monitors, so people can avoid seeing things like rep points and post counts.

Club RSX (http://forums.clubrsx.com)
I was averaging about 11.5 ppd (posts per day) until a recent hiatus I took. When I first joined, posts in O/T (off topic) didn't add to the post count. But after some bitching by post whores, the owner (Chris Dye) decided to make it count, with the following compromise (which might be agreeable to the thread starter):
All posts count in all forums count. However, those threads that are "whore threads" don't count. The way they did that is the administrator allowed "whore threads". However, they had the word "*CHAT*" in the title. I guess the forum's mechanism that keeps track of post counts did not increment the post count for any posts made in any thread that had the string "*CHAT*". Maybe the admin here should do something similar to that. It seemed to make everyone happy on Club RSX.

I'm assuming you're referring to me since I mentioned the 11,000 post thing. I take no offense to what you said, regardless of your intention. But I will say that at the ~11.5 ppd, I wasn't spending all day. I am an avid sports fan and there were threads on certain shows I follow religiously. So just posting there accounted for maybe 7-8 ppd. The remaining were just searching new threads and replying to ones I thought were interesting and wanted to share my thoughts.

I thought the same thing. Its the ones with no posts and no rep points that want to do without it all. I try hard to help people here and I am very happy when I get a rep point for doing it. It also takes posts to try to give them help. It shows that you are an asset to Slickdeals in the most part. It is a measuring system. Sure its not perfect but it does help a little.

NO MORE POST COUNT DAMNIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the people have spoken. posts should only count when you post a freebie and not when you respond to one. but besides that im here looking for freebies and expressing my thoughts which you may or may not like, which i don't give two craps about what you people think im here looking for only a post to a link with free stuff. not a post telling me about a post

Rep points are entirely different. Some people are just tired of wading through worthless bullshit people post trying to find decent information. That is pretty common the lounge with certain people who fill the entire front page with most recent responses for no reason other than to reply to every post.

not really. I was just trying to find a way to keep people from posting just to up their post count. No plan is perfect, it was a suggestion, which is what the title for this section is. There are people that try to maintain "x" posts a day which leads to posting a lot of crap. some of it is usefull but when you wade through dozens of posts looking for true info, it gets annoying.

eliminate all post counts on freebie board except the actual post of freebie. replies to freebie post should not count.
good idea, only the original poster gets credit for the post, not everyone that says "thanks"
