It seem's like it just went up recently...:scratchh: We had the single DVD plan. So it was $7.99. Now it's $7.99 for each service. In the Netflix thread they were saying that if you have Amazon prime you can stream content through them.
Here's the thread...
Linly (http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?sduid=156903&p=40974038#post40974038)
:secret: Most of the last page is techie types giving each other a woodward with all their techie talk. But the gist of it seems to be that Amazon doesn't have as much content yet but they will probably be adding more. Hulu plus is decent at $7.99. And they Netflis just changed their TOS for streaming. I won't bore everyone here with all the details but post #158 has the details. :)
I'll go check that out. I might actually pay for Amazon prime after the Amazon mom expires in December

Anyone in the family with a .edu email? The first year of prime is free that way too.. Here:
Linly (http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2123032)
Then $39 for renewal. :)
You know what else gets on my nerves? When a company decides they are going to charge me a fee to take my payment online. Ummm, no you won't. I'll use a stamp and make you wait rather than pay you $2.50 to take my payment online.

Here's another one....
Headsup! Netflix is splitting their service into two parts. Streaming and rentable DVD's by mail. Everything you used to get for one price now costs double. So I cancelled my account and I think I am going to try Hulu and use RedBox. (I still have all those codes from the popcorn.)
Hulu has a special that was posted here....
Linly (http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=3091045)
Now back to work.....:sadwalk:
I checked ours and it is almost doubling :( Hubby said to keep the streaming for now for my son who steals my Ipod to watch his shows. I can't believe they're raising the prices that much. I see business going down for them quite a bit.

At my commissary the cheap tic tacs-56 cents were not at the check stands-they were in the discontinued section much to my surprise.
No coupon inserts/booklets to be found at the front of the store-just empty shelves :( Have not seen the July P&G at my store :(
I am so behind in organizing my coupons right now and it's already half way through the month!

Hello!
My name is Alfer :) My hubby and I went to the commissary yesterday at Hunter (Savannah, GA), & YES the frozen Chicken tenders are 2.99 still :) I only had 4 qs for those last night, but def going back there for more before it expires (exp for that q is 7-22) because we ate those after our shopping trip last night and it was yummy :yummy:
If anyone shops the Comm. today or tomorrow, can I get a price check on those frozen Tyson chicken tenders? I think someone said they were $2.99 but I think that was a while ago and may not be applicable anymore.
The chicken tenders I make from scratch are a slice of Heaven but these would be great for my kids to have on the evenings I'm not home. :)
TIA!

okay I have looked at the drop off point of for operation slickdeals and it is 6 hours away from me! I don't really want to mail my stuff I just wanted to drop it off and be done with it. I guess I will just be donating to my on-base food pantry. Plus slickdeals really annoyed me by refusing to change soldiers to troops!!! no one in the AF would ever be called a soldier and not correct that person. as you can see it still annoys me!

So the BX is having a grand re-opening here on base-they really don't have that many coupons out, but several hourly drawings. I get a call from the shoppette that I won their hourly drawing-at the BX it was nice prizes like Itunes GC. So I sneak out of work to find out what I won since I was curious-should have waited.........all I won was a t-shirt and flashlight keychain I know it was free but I was hoping a bottle of alcohol was going to be included or some food. The gas station had little cute baskets put together...oh well just a little disappointed, but it was free so I should be happy!

Well that is good he doesn't have to deploy, but that sucks you to move to the other side of the country. I thought the long drive sucked from Colorado to California so I am going to go nuts if we have to drive to the other side of the country! Last move I made the mistake of following my DHs car-he had a uhaul trailor so we were going 55 miles an hour!! Now I know I will drive on ahead to the next town and wait for him to catch up!!

Speaking of peanut butter....
I jut love the honey roast Peter Pan. My base has it for $1.09 a jar. I have read of a base having it marked down to 50 cents.
The commissary had some Swing Into Summer booklets in the front of the store - from Conagra. They have a coupon for 75 cents off two Peter Pan peanut butters. (Peter Pan coupons are hard to come by).
It also has coupons for
$1 off fresh meat wyb two hunts ketchup or bbq sauce
$1 off 4 Chef Boyardee canned Pasta
$1.50 off 4 Kid Cuisine
75 cents off fresh fruit wyb two reddi-wip

:( Sorry for the last minute notice for a move. We've been in limbo for months not knowing if we were going to move and we're just about a month out now. From what I have been told (I don't think first hand yet) is they will move pantry items that aren't opened (can goods and such) We're trying to eat down what we can and what we can't I'm going to donate or put on Freecycle . Good luck with eating down and starting to prepare.
Wish I could help with the deals but hubby banned me from the Commissary until we move :(

If it's a CONUS move, they usually take pantry items as long as they're not liquid (though they'll take canned food). It should be ok if it's open. Liquids, flammables, light bulbs, (usually) candles, batteries are a no-go.

Good luck with the move! WA State is beautiful. We lived in Bremerton (about one hour northwest of where you will be) for many years and loved it there. Tacoma (where Ft. Lewis is) might be a different story.
Lots of gorgeous scenery there.

I feel like I should brag about my commissary-Marine Corp Base Hawaii
signs up all over that say "Voted Best Little Commissary in the US"
We don't have any RR issues ( bc we have the "only" RR's) and I have not special ordered but they are clean, nice and friendly!!
Cashier said they all received a $100 bonus which I thought was nice. Not sure if they had to share the Bonus or it was Manager decision.
We were in Bremerton too a few years ago. Sad to say I really did not appreciate the city or scenery until after we left. It does rain most days but during the late summer-Beautiful!! Just make a list of all things you want to do/see and do them-rain or shine.
Our cross country FL to Seattle trip we had some time so I limited the car to 6-8 hours a day. We would alternate the drive so one day we were up early and drove our route so we could site see late evening and early morning. Then the next day would be driving in the late afternoon(about 3pm) and into the evening. Breaks things up a bit for the kids-and always stay where there is a pool. The kids love a 30 minute swim at 6am and then jumping in the car is not so bad.

I started making calls to various manufacturer's last week about those RR's and coupons that state "ONLY" and what I am hearing from them is that they don't care who redeems them, the store gets reimbursed.
Why can't we combine our efforts, inundate Dana (DECA) with our complaints about them not accepting them and see if we can get this train of thought changed?
That little word "ONLY" has COMPLETELY changed the way I shop at the Commissary now.

Getting something in writing woud help. We could also ask DeCA to contact the manufacturers. The redeemable ONLY at - is not on the terms part of the coupon. If the manufacturers wanted to restrict it - they should put the restriction in the terms section. Some of the commissary coupons actually state that they are to be used in military commissaries only right in the terms.

As far as the other guy - I agree with you on not being sure how much faith to put in him.
He seems to be very inconsistent with his responses. In some forums - people post emails they received from him - and one email will say "You CAN use X coupon on Y." and another email will say "You can NOT use X coupon on Y." ....even when it is the same coupon and the same item.
It is kind of puzzling.

For anyone going this morning, can I get a price check on the cheapest Bengay? (Not trial size.)
My commissary is closed on Mondays. :annoyed:
Someone locally said with the coupon there is $1 + overage. I'm at Hood so we have a larger commissary (not sure if that makes a difference) I haven't went so I can't verify.
Woohoo...my first multi-quote experience :)

Well not just politically incorrect, just plain incorrect. English is not our national language. Kind of odd that they did not know that.
My hubby was injured on Sunday. He says it looks worse than it feels. I really wanted him yo go to the hospital but he was hardheaded about it. He was riding his new bicycle and adjusting the speedometer at the same time. Obviously, he didn't see the parked van. And he did a face plant right into it. So thankful it wasn't moving towards him when it happened. Hopefully he will pay better attention now.

..... and on moving........ Loved LOVED WA state but I was up on Whidbey Island so we didn't get all the rain/snow that the rest of the state got but I was also basically in BFE. Both big moves I made they packed every damn thing they could get their hands on.... From Japan to WA I had to "rescue" my lighter fluid & stockpile of lighters from the guys. But they were Japanese nationals and didnt speak ANY english so it was definitely a point & smile kinda thing. From WA to VA they just didnt care either and packed everything from candles to open bottles of whiskey  And Yes they DID try to pack the trash! But again my movers were COMPLETE idiots.... The one guy who packed the spare bedroom labled everything "master bedroom".... Now there wasn't even a bed in this room.... just my weights, eliptical & my small stockpile .... special
Keep forgetting to bring the tape q's IN the store with me to see if they scan Grrrrrrrrrrr  But luckily I didn't "need" approval to use the last of my RRs yesterday. First time for everything! Too bad it could easily be the last time.... Sigh. But the kid did lecture me on how I was taking advantage of the system until I explained to him that RRs come from PURCHASING items and you don't just walk into wags and they just hand over "Free Money" The "free" chicken is still "free" with q but the breast tenderloins <better than the tenders> went up from 1.79 after q to 2.99 after. Ohhh and they rasied my damn cheese again .50lb more even though the signs said good until 7/31 Sigh.

I asked about candles and was actually told they would take them if I wanted but would not be responsible for damage if they melted and leaked. I took them with me. If it had been a door to door move (instead of going to storage) they would have packed anything- batteries, lawn chemicals...
I've been in WA for about a month now. DH works at JBLM, and we are living in Lacey/Olympia. So far, so good. My skin has re-hydrated from 3 years in Colorado :) (I really liked Colorado though), I haven't had a nose bleed in weeks. We found a house to rent that will take my pets (fyi, apartment living with 2 big dogs is a PITA) and we move in this weekend. My fair-weather loving black lab mix has been rained on a couple times and he hasn't melted (he's been pretty sure he would in the past). The rainy season will be different, but I think it will be ok. I am shocked at how few mosquitoes there are here.

Dawn, glad your dh is ok!
I can't believe I'm defending them but... they did say "our official business language", which is true for all base operations. I remember a big stink about that when we lived in Bremerton because employees are various places were talking to each other, across customers, in their native language and there was an official base memo put out that employees are to remember that while on the clock, unless they are talking to a customer in that customer's native language, they are to use English because it was the official language while at work, on base. Clear as mud, right?
Our worst move was the shortest move, when dh retired. It's like the packers and movers didn't give a darn and damaged a bunch of stuff. I filed a claim and it was rejected BUT they came back and said that dh had to repay almost $1000 because we were over our household goods weight limit. At retirement, at least for us, they didn't deduct the 10% allowance for work related uniforms/ books/ etc. Dh wouldn't fight and and the Navy wouldn't talk to me about it at all. :(

I'm very curious how much weight we'll have had this move. When DH retired, we weighed just under the limit (maybe 14k?). 1.5 years later, we somehow "gained" about 3k, we were just under the 18 allowed on the next move. I know we acquired much more but I'm not sure how much I purged over the past 3 years. The movers were guessing maybe 16k. We'll see soon... Guess I'll be sure we know the weight before filing any claims though...

We are allowed 18k, so I hope we didn't gain that much. I never believed the 17k weight from last time, I really didn't acquire much in Alaska other than a dining table and chairs, those are heavy. Last time we moved it was easier to get paid for the furniture they damaged and got a check pretty fast I was rather amazed! We were 200 pounds over so I think the 10% saved us and we have not gotten a bill. Before we move again I need to go through and get rid of a lot of small stuff-I like our current furniture.

I really hate it that the emails I get from DECA telling me about the sales don't always apply to MY store. The Tyson Tenders were $2.99 week before last but today they were $3.29, even though the email said the sale runs through the 22nd. :annoyed:
I got more tape and more K-Y. Decent overage but not much, for sure.
I price-checked the Maalox and Gas-x, but even w/ that $10/3 Q, it's still not a MM. I'll hold off and use those at Hellmart for the (almost) $3 in overage, I guess. I just really hate giving WM any money at all.
No good sales to report but I did find a couple of new-to-me coupon books. The Fresh Express books have some nice Q's. Lord knows, I eat enough salad to sink a ship.

I thought the tenders were supposed to be $2.99 until July 20. The shelf sign said $2.99 - but they rang up at $3.49.
They had fruit rollups, gushers, etc for $1.59 - and had tear pads in front of them for $4 off 4. So 59 cents each. My son ate two BOXES as soon as I got them home...

--- "Pay $41.99, receive $27 in rewards", per case, max 2 cases.
--- Use coupon PAPER2 (thanks to a poster over on FW) for a $12 discount per case. Not sure if there is a case limit for the coupon but it takes $24 off two cases.

If you got the 25% back in rewards coupon this week (expires Sat) it doesn't exclude HP ink & toner.
I didn't take advantage of the last HP toner deal (I was getting ready to move and couldn't decide if I wanted to drag toner along, and by the time I decided to do it, I had missed it. Figures, a few weeks later, the color cartridges started to go. We're moving from the apartment to a rental house this weekend but after we stopped for dinner, I made DH drive to Staples, since I need all 3 colors. :D

Regardless of what the manufacturer's have been telling me, the clearinghouse for the Commissaries sees the word "only" and sends them back to the store from which they came, marked "invalid for redemption".

Almost got hit by the piece of sh!t semi driver. Driving through parking lot and of sudden with out using a signal he pulls out from where he is parked-no signal. Even after he sees me he doesn't stop and just keeps on going around me-I stopped and had to move to keep him from hitting me. A$$hole could have cared less.:addict:
Come home and I have to admit I am in a bad mood after almost getting hit-I have asked DH to renew my license plate at the beginning of the month, asked him again about at the beginning of the week if he was going to do it-said he had it taken care of. My sticker expires in July. Sent him an email work-no reply. So I get home and he still hadn't done anything I started yelling at him. He finally does it on-line, I have him do it because it is cheaper since he is AD military-I am little suspicious that he paid full rate!!:ranting::chairbas: and this is how I feel right now, but decided to stop yelling at him.
So ladies would you have started yelling at your DH if he did this to you or was I overreacting?

Are most of the RRs printing with ONLY now? I haven't been to WAGS in weeks (well, I did stop by for some chocolate last week, but they were gone). With the move, I've been avoiding RRs until I'm settled, and have not even gotten the Sunday paper in over a month. Our HHGs were delivered this week, so I'm going to be busy unpacking for a while.
Speaking of HHGs, we were nowhere near our limit of 18k, movers said about 14k. Makes me wonder even more about the supposed 17k we had 3.5 years ago (which I have always doubted). It really would have been nice if they hadn't broken nearly every freakin' piece of antique furniture I had though.

Wow, that sucks. The week they started showing up was the week I was moving and I haven't been keeping up with the WAGS threads since. I'm not interested in having to worry about rolling RRs, the only reason I shopped WAGS as much as I did was b/c I could use them at the Comm.
Sheesh, I moved, RRs changed, it appears nobody doubles coupons here (except with the special doubler Qs I haven't seen yet, so I don't know if they actually exist where I am), the Commissary is a 30 min drive and I need to figure out when to go to avoid sitting in traffic... I'm starting to think I may just return to the world of the more casual couponer.
I still have to explore the world of RA (never shopped there before), so I guess there's that...

I was concerned about being able to redeem other PDF coupons at this commissary. So once again I am making more friends at my commissary  I bet they will be really glad when we PCS. ;)
hmm I wonder if they will let me redeem the coupon if I try to use it this afternoon.
Dear Ms. Hensley,
Once again, I apologize for any inconvenience you experienced at the
Vandenberg Commissary.
From what I have been able to ascertain, the coupon you printed off the
Chiquita Facebook site is valid and the commissary should have accepted it.
Stores have been advised to only refuse coupons when they are positive they
have been copied and when in doubt to accept them, then send to me to
validate. You should not have to run any coupons past me first before
presenting at the commissary.
I have copied Mr. Robert Varela, Zone Manager over the Vandenberg
Commissary, on this e-mail to make him aware of your concerns. If you wish
to contact him to discuss specifics, his phone number is (951) 655-3696.

Your Commissary ... It's Worth the Trip!
-----Original Message-----
Subject: Coupon problem again at Vandenberg AFB
Hi Danna,
Sorry to complaining to you once again about Vandenberg AFB-I never once
have heard back from the manager at the VAFB commissary so that is why I
email you first.
I brought a valid coupon to the commissary. I printed it from Chiquita
Banana facebook's website.
https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=631887568#!/Chiquita?sk=wall They
have since removed it and other people are having redeeming it because of
how they posted the coupon.
My big issue was the manager accused me of copying the
coupon and wouldn't come out to talk to me about it. No research was done,
no let me check into this coupon with HQs and I will get back to you just an
accusation of copying the coupon. I admit the coupon looks a little odd,
but I explained to them that is was posted by Chiquita and I still got
accused of copying the coupon. I printed this coupon from the companies
facebook page and I was only trying to use one coupon.
Am I going to have this issue with any PDF coupon that a company puts out
that I try to redeem at the commissary? Should I run a PDF coupon by you
first?
They told me that they are having issues with copied coupons, but it is
unfair to start accusing all their customers that use coupons of coupon
fraud.
Thanks for your help. I have also attached the coupon.

Seems a bit odd to me....

Nice letter.
Something that is so ironic is that many of us blazed the trail - standing up for our rights - before couponing became the "in" thing to do.
Now that so many more people are couponing - it feels like we are back at square one (i.e. criminals) again.
I fully understand that the commissary does need to check things out. But they are so awkward about how they do it.
I used to give my coupons at the end of the order. Now they often want them at the beginning. Then they count all the coupons while your stuff is melting. Then - I put ALL the like items together - so they can see how many I get... but then - they finish ringing everything up and start counting the coupons again. THEN they will ask - "How many of these did you get?" Or "Did you get this many?"
Why would you ask someone who you don't trust enough to give you the right number of coupons how many of an item they got?
Yesterday I found some advil at the checkout. :yahoo: So I got some. I had the $4/2 qs. The cashier started reading EACH and every coupon for a long time before he scanned it. Let's see - 5 minutes per coupon times 12 coupons will take how many minutes....
I finally said "You know - if you have a question about the coupon - you can call the office. That might be better than stopping to read it each time you scan one..."
So then he decided he didn't need to read each of the coupons.
But I hate it when they do that. I don't mind them calling customer service. But I do mind when they pause and look at the coupon and read it and look at the item and then read the coupon again over and over and over again.

Interesting. There was a whole big ordeal at another commissary (on another forum) where the store director told the patron that if she purchased 30 (30 10-counts; not 30 cases) that he would have to report her for abusing commissary privileges. She was going to use the overage on her other groceries - but he told her that $22 in savings on her groceries was a "personal gain." He said that 10 would be allowable. Around $7 savings on your groceries is "reasonable." He also said 30 10-counts was "too much" for "personal use." That would be 300 advils that her family and her couldn't possibly use before the 2013 expiration date. Ironically, they sell single bottles with more than 300 pills...

Mine needs to learn some basic customer service and not to treat the customers that coupon crappily. If you talked to me nicer I wouldn't call and complain about you!!
Using coupons at the commissary is like a box of chocolates you never know what you are going to get. sometimes it goes smoothly and than all of sudden bam it goes bad. And I am a finance person for government so do not accuse me of fraud-that makes me mad!! If you do accuse me you better make sure you are correct and not making sh!t up!

Very true and it really peeves me when they take an insert coupon, spend 5 minutes reading the front, and then keep flipping it over to read the back. Nope, still hasn't changed, still the same wording. Unless there is a magic button on the back of coupons that we don't know about.

That makes absolutely no sense that they are trying to decide for a customer how much pain medication they are able to use. I understand reasonable limits but that's not reasonable.

The commissary is not the only place and with all the giddy new couponers that are buoyed after watching a season of "that show" it seems to get worse. They also need to be a little more careful with throwing fraudulent around.

Dear Ms. Hensley,
Once again, I apologize for any inconvenience you experienced at the
Vandenberg Commissary.

I. Coupons will not be accepted if DeCA has issued a counterfeit notice for them, regardless of where they came from. If you question the commissary’s refusal to accept a coupon, based on it being counterfeit, they should be able to show you the notice.
There is no report of a fraudulent Bengay coupon on CIC HERE (http://www.couponinformationcenter.com/coupon-fraud-list.php?st=84bc3)
They could possibly have received some copies of the coupon - but that doesn't give them the right to label the coupon as a fraudulent coupon, or to deny others the right to use them.

Hi everyone! We're hopefully 2 weeks away from our move (pending no more Army surprises) I'm trying to decide if I want to just my P&G RRs from this week at the Commissary and get back into Wags after we move or keep rolling them. I hope I haven't been missing too many Commissary deals lately (Haven't been in over a month and a half now)

Good news they are accepting the coupon. If this was training for the cashiers not sure why they posted them in SCA at each SC register.......makes me wish I had taken a picture of the coupon!! Might have to go buy at lunch to see they are still up!
Here is the response:
Mrs. H,
I talked to Ms. Pat Booker, Customer Service Manager, regarding your
concern. She states that the coupon is marked "void" and was provided to
the cashiers for training purposes. The issue is not that they will not
accept this coupon; the issue they have been having is that multiple copies
of the same coupon, with identical numbers under the dot scan bar, have been
presented, meaning the coupon has been photocopied. DeCA incurs a loss when
photocopies of coupons of coupons are accepted and their intent is to remind
cashiers to ensure the numbers under the dot scan bar are unique on each
coupon to prevent a loss to DeCA and protect our customers' benefit.
I hope this clarifies the situation.

I got fed up with playing phone tag to try and set up a drop location in FL. A lot of my stuff (including the furniture), went Saturday to a local charity that re-sells to benefit children.
The rest will go to an organization in Fort Benning, GA this weekend, that helps local soldiers and their families.
While Operation SD may have started off with a "bang", in the end (for me anyway), it fizzled when I realized how unprepared OH was for this. Unprepared ... uninterested ... take your pick. :(

There was just so much random bs/issues that seemed to make things exponentially complicated. the drop off location to me was in San Diego.......so I gave my items to the helping Federal Employees boxes that commissary was doing. Plus I got annoyed when slickdeals refused to change the verbiage from Soldiers-it should have been troops and they didn't think it was a big deal.

I am feeling rather snarky so I need to hang out over here in a friendly enviroment otherwise I will post something else that I shouldn't!! And right now I really really want to!!
In good news I am so happy they fixed the water main at work! we didn't have bathrooms or water yesterday and they didn't deliver port o potties until the afternoon. fun times-not!
Yup, indeed this is the friendliest :D
I read all of the buzz, and all I can say is that we all have other things (bigger things) to worry about. Lol.
***happy thoughts for the rest of the day***
But i'm glad the water at your job is fixed! I wouldn't know what to do if that happened to me right now. Being 31 weeks pregnant, my bladder isn't as cooperative as I want it to be. Bleh.

If you are on base you can donate by going to their building, they have a box set up. What they collect will go to military families in the area that are struggling with the cost of back to school.

You know I totally didn't respond correctly! I should have said "no worries, instead of giving you a friendly reminder of the rules I will just mod alert next time" oh well always think of better responses late
I had brought my lunch yesterday and quickly changed my mind and we went out to eat so we could go to a restroom. I didn't drink very much water yesterday!
congrats on the pregnancy-I like BMRs idea on how to use it to your advantage when couponing!

You just reminded me of something that happened a long time ago. I was in Blockbuster on a Tuesday night when my kids were little. There was some new kid movie that was released that day. I waited at the counter for a copy and was lucky enough to get one to rent for my children. All of the sudden some weirdo female (I won't call her a lady :nono2:) walks up to me and snatched the video out of my hands! I was so stunned I couldn't think of a single word to say. Not ONE! When my friend walked up to and saw the look on my face he wanted to know what had happened. I told him the story and he was probably more shocked that I didn't say a word.

Feeling like I missed something important... was there a :argue:
I am glad some folks had a great experience donating to OH. It seems like many of us were left with a kind of less than cozy feeling from the whole thing. Like they were doing us a huge favor by taking our stuff. I donated over $1,600 worth of stuff - and actually would like to donate more... but not sure I want to deal with them again.... Maybe I will feel better about it as the memories fade....
There have been some changes at my commissary. I don't see shelf space for the Advil 10 ct anymore. :( Not sure how that is working toward DeCA's goal of boosting sales - to stop carrying things that sell well....

Found qs at my commissary yesterday for $5 off any 10 Keebler / Sunshine / Kelloggs items. Good for products 4 oz and up.
Also used some $1 off Fresh Produce if you buy Pectin Qs.
Bought the little 4 and 6 ounce - batches of Pectin.
The cashier said "This is $1 off PRODUCE when you buy pectin." "You didn't buy any PRODUCE."
I said " I thought bananas and lettuce were produce..."
Cashier said ":scratchh:
Then cashier said "Well the lettuce was only 78 cents..."
I feel: :headbang:
She promptly enters the coupon for 78 cents....
I said "You didn't just adjust that coupon DOWN did you?"
Cashier said "No... "
I thought :scratchh:
(Note - the coupon does not say up to.... nor does it say each produce item has to be $1 or more - It just says save $1 on Fresh Produce wyb..."
Then the cashier makes an adjustment and scans the coupon again and enters .22 cents.
I am
At the end of the transaction she explained to me that she had to enter the coupon at the price of the item - and then enter the other 22 cents because the register would not "take" the coupon for $1 because the lettuce was .78 cents.
I think the register would have "taken" it easier at $1 than scanning the same coupon TWO times and adding different amounts....
But she did want to assure me that she "gave" me the whole dollar off... (hold your applause...)

For those of you who have heard my woes about my commissary never calling me about special orders.... telling me nothing has come in when I call... but putting stuff out on the shelf.... you might find this interesting.
I contacted DeCA because my store director started limiting us to special ordering of only one case of any item that has a coupon on it.
She said the distributor gets mad if they run them out of stock - and they are having trouble keeping their shelves stocked.
Sounds like a plan - We can't keep our shelves stocked on these items - and so we will order less....
AND she told me she can't order everyone's case at once. She has to "sneak" the orders in (so as not to make the distributor mad....again...) So she can order one extra case each time they order (i.e. if 5 people order a case - it will be at least 5 days before the 5th person's order goes in...)
Anyway - I contacted DeCA about it because it seemed very odd - and she told DeCA that she started limiting special orders because people don't always pick up their orders if the whole order doesn't come in - and then the items just sit and expire and it causes major losses to the commissary.
Okay - does that make sense to anyone
The demand exceeds the supply - and it expires and causes a loss to the commissary.
For one thing - WHO with coupons is going to say "No. If you didn't get all my cases, I am not going to pick up any of them..."
And who ESLE with coupons wouldn't run out there and pick up an extra order if someone bothered to CALL them.....
So if person A won't pick it up - call person B...
Oh...yeah... I forgot.... the never call people....
That reminds me of my quest to get the 3 cases (36 x 3 = 72) of Maalox I ordered earlier this year. They NEVER called. They told me MINE didn't come in when I called. They told me one case came in for the shelf.
Yet - when I got in my car and drove out there - I was able to buy 55 bottles off the shelf! And the next day - my special order still supposedly didn't come in - but they had restocked the shelves - and I bought a bunch more!
I brought that up in my meeting with the store director this spring - and asked her why they would put all that out on the shelf when those of us with coupons were guaranteed to buy it. But NO.... they couldn't fill our special orders - they had to stick it out on the shelf.... so it could expire (after our coupons expired) and cause a major loss to the commissary.....
Luckily I drove out there... and didn't trust them when they said it wasn't in.....

Yeah. Makes you wonder about how they manage things.
At my commissary - they don't handle special orders right at all - and then they decide they are a huge problem. But I think over half the problem is how inefficient they are.
According to the store director - they are supposed to call every few days and give you the status on your order. Now - if they said it wouldn't be in for two weeks - I wouldn't expect them to call for a couple of weeks. But they hardly ever call at all. I try to check in with them every month or so... and then I call at a bad time... sigh.... (and I emailed the store director a couple of weeks ago and told her I had not received a call about any of my orders - I had orders in for about 5 things... but I haven't heard from them OR her... so I guess that isn't their policy anymore.)
Oddly enough - sometimes when I call the store director - I suddenly get a call telling me my stuff is in. It magically appears. (Though last time, one box had BETTY written on it - so poor Betty probably didn't get hers).
There seems to be no rhyme or reason to how they do it.
But when I ask about the policy & procedures - they say they are changing them.
I am not sure they have a procedure.

So last week I had to go to 2 commissaries to hunt down some splenda and well  they both just had some kind of "coupon training" Ughhhh Yeah as if I didn't have enough problems on a regular basis. Between the two stores it took just short of 2 hours worth of conferences to get out the damn door. At one the head cashier read out loud the reach/listerine coupon to me 5 times before I could get her to say the word "or". Apparently one of us has reading comprehension problems and I don't think it was me. Then yesterday, because I forgot bread both times last week  I stopped in and had RRs to use.......... Sigh....... again.... yadda yadda we just had this training blah blah cashier REFUSED to take them <as always> and keeps trying to give them back to me and I keep asking for the cash office and the store director. Head cashier insists there is a new policy and they just had training and that they can not take ANY rr, So she runs off to get the memo to prove me wrong <she eventually comes back empty handed>. Finally the SD shows up and well I've been shopping at this store for almost 2 years and have asked to speak to this woman probably 20+ times and she is always in the wind somewhere. So understandably I have always assumed she was a royal biotch since all the cashiers love to tell me how much she hates coupons and doesnt want them accepting them and yadda yadda. Well this woman shows up looks at the RR and Holy ShizniT she says yes of course take it. Sigh but the cashier starts arguing with the SD about the coupon and explaining that she can NOT take it and the SD explains why she can and the cashier STILL arguing with the SD keeps trying to give the damn RRs back. Sigh, I even carry both kinds of RRs so I can try to demonstrate which ones they Can NOT take and keep asking if they want copies of them for reference but of course they dont. Finally the SD is obviously getting irritated with the cashier and just tells her to take them already and walks away. But ohhhh no of course thats not good enough for this ,...... female....... so she reads the damn thing to me a few more times before she finally gives in and scans them.... So, 49 minutes in line for bread, eggs, celerey and sour cream.
Now if everyone in my region is getting this training......... why on earth didnt they ask me to teach the class?
Vent over..........
Can't really remember the last time I saw a good enough deal to even bother sharing. If it wasn't for "o" and RRs I wouldn't even bother shopping at the commissary.
Hope everyone else is doing a lot better & really hope this "training" wasn't national

... Because there is $1.50off q from 8/14 SS for any 12oz. bag of Seattle's Best Coffee -- is it a match? :D
TIA!
Yes, it's 12 oz.
I haven't gotten the paper since our move (delivery starts Sunday though :)) so all I've got right now are printables.

 wth did I do to deserve an insult like that.....
So last week I had to go to 2 commissaries to hunt down some splenda and well  they both just had some kind of "coupon training" Ughhhh Yeah as if I didn't have enough problems on a regular basis. <snip>
Vent over..........
Can't really remember the last time I saw a good enough deal to even bother sharing. If it wasn't for "o" and RRs I wouldn't even bother shopping at the commissary.
Hope everyone else is doing a lot better & really hope this "training" wasn't national
Well.... you had been talkin lik a normal person and posting in black and stuff.... ;)
Yep. My commissary is getting where you have to be sworn in to check out most of the time anymore.
The other day I had a coupon for $1.50 off two Kelloggs cereals - only for specific kinds - like the mini-wheats with fruit in the middle. Then the commissary had tear pads for $5 off any 10 Kelloggs or Keebler - which included crackers and things as well as cereal.
To try to head off spending forever being told I couldn't use the $1.50 Q because I had used the $5 off 10 q - or dragging everything out of my bag to count stuff after the fact - I put my Kelloggs and Keeber stuff on the belt FIRST - AND I gave her the two coupons. I showed her - See - this says $1.50 off any two of ____ - That is for THESE two cereals. And this says $5 off any 10. That is for THESE 10 Kelloggs and Keebler items.
I got her nod of understanding before I even put anything else on the checkout counter to scan.
She scans all my groceries. Then she starts with my coupons. When she picks up the $5 off any 10 Kelloggs /Keebler - she looks confused and panicked. It must have escaped her short term memory that we had just gone over that and counted them. She starts scrolling back through the receipt counting how many I bought :headbang:

Wow. I thought I was going to have to dig this thread out of the archives for a minute.
I hope everyone is doing well!! :grouphug:
Real life has been pretty nutty for me the past couple of weeks. I bought a little condo in south Florida and it was the short sale from hell. The seller is a realtor and a lawyer. In the state of Florida you cannot represent yourself in the short sale process. This guy was so shady, he makes a banyan tree look like a good place to get a tan. Of course, I didn't find any of it out until after closing and then talking with the tenant in the condo. I was seriously considering many avenues of action regarding this scum but decided against doing anything. It would involve the tenant too much and I am not comfortable putting her in the middle.
Short sales are generally "as is." But I found out through the home inspector that the water heater and the a/c were extremely old and they would probably need replacing very soon. This is around $4k for these two items. So my realtor when back to the seller's realtor and asked for a reduction in price. There was much grandstanding and talk about how people were waiting in line to buy this place so they wouldn't ask the bank for the reduction. I don't think they really thought I would walk away. Guess they don't know I am an SD'er. :evillaf: So I cancelled the sale. THEN they decided they would negotiate. Honestly, not sure why they wouldn't ask the bank for a further reduction in price to begin with. It's not like HE was losing any money since the homeowner gets no money from a short sale. :dontknow: It became clear he was eager to unload the place after I cancelled. He had some rather nasty things to say about me in emails to my agent. The next day he wanted to negotiate saying he didn't want to start the short sale process over again. I wondered why. He had a tenant that was paying rent.
Two days after the sale, this past Thursday to be exact, a broken fridge problem was dumped in my lap. :facepalm2: Apparently it had been broken since Sunday. He tried to ignore the tenant's texts so she called on Monday. (She had no idea the condo was even for sale. The day of the home inspection he told her that some people were coming over to fix the toilet and some other things. :crazylaf: ) So when I got the email and called her on Thursday she hadn't had a working fridge since Sunday. He sent a handyman who took out the broken part but didn't order a new one. And got it to work but it did not keep the fridge cold, only cool.
After talking with the tenant on the phone again later that Thursday, I figgered out why he was in such a hurry to close. She told me that the hot water heater had sparked and caught on fire after the inspection. He sent his handy man out to "band aid" the problem AGAIN. WTF? Seriously, if I owned a property and a water heater or appliance caught on fire, I would have it out the door as quick as possible. My goodness. What if someone had been asleep and hadn't noticed? (The tenant's sister heard a funny noise and had the presence of mind to investigate the first time. She used an extinguisher to put it out.) But I digress....My real estate agent was nice enough to recommend a reconditioned appliance store that she uses. I would have never thought of that. They guarantee the appliances for six months. Then I turned around and bought a home warranty for the place. So $750 walked out of my pocketbook within two days of closing.. :whee: But at least I have peace of mind in knowing everything is covered now.
So...if you want to buy a condo in south Florida, I know a sleazy agent to stay away from and I know an excellent agent that I would totally recommend!
Things are going pretty quickly here. Just a couple of short weeks before I head back to the mainland and then Europe. Lots to do and a little time to do it. :whee:

Is anyone trying to get in on these HP tablet deals? I just bought a Samsung Galaxy. But for the prices I was thinking it might not be bad to get a second one for the family. The only problem is I am worried about the WebOS. I am not too geeky but if the WebOS system is defunct, doesn't that mean that there probably won't be any more apps made for it? :dontknow:

There is also a $2 off Fresh Express salad "bonus pack" on WPTV. It says "redeemable only" at Safeway and Safeway company stores. So if you have Von's , Dominick's, Pavillion's etc you should be able to use it.

Have a fun trip and congrats on the condo purchase, even if the previous owner is making a butt of himself.
I had a Samsung Galaxy 7 inch tablet and bought one of the Touchpad on Wednesday. It's a nice little machine but definitely less apps. I'm hoping that developers continue to support WebOS since HP is promising to continue to support it.

Oh you did!?!?! Well I hope for your sake that HP will do that. I just don't see it being true though. Well not for the long run. If they are exiting the tablet/phone market because of the intense competition, then why continue to throw money in an operating system for which you don't sell a product?
Thanks for the grats. :D The a/c was finally repaired, And hopefully there won't be any more issues for a little bit.
I went to the commissary yesterday for the first time in a good while too. I have always liked the way the commissary's coupon policy made sense and was centralized. Now it sounds like they are trying to decentralize the policy and have patrons defer to the very stores that don't even know what the policy is.
The razor issue has reared it's ugly head again. After I received the email stating that I could use the coupons as long as I received overage but not cash back, DeCA apparently rewrote the stores less than a week later saying overage was not allowed for this coupon.
I happened to have a friendly conversation with my store manager a couple of weeks back about ordering issues (AGAIN) and Schick came up in the conversation. She emailed me a copy of the entire email discussion and it was dated AFTER I was emailed saying I could use it. There was also some talk in the emails of rewriting the DECA policy again. Any regular that is interested in reading the whole correspondence, just email me and will forward it to you for your perusal. I think it's really a YMMV thing since they will more than likely get reimbursed the entire amount.
I am not sure why, but the conversation about making the commissaries "for profit" is still lingering. I thought that was squashed a while back? I don't know if they are trying to sensationalize the issue since it got people nearly as riled up as the new retirement package idea or what. If you want to see more, lookee here....http://militaryadvantage.military.com/2011/08/paying-for-dod-mistakes/
Lastly, I read somewhere that there were tearpads out there for FREE Hormel Compleats at some commissaries. I also heard from a reliable source that they never made it to the shelves at my favorite store. Happy hunting! Also heard from my source that the distributors have no intentions of putting any more of the 20 count Advil on the shelves until the coupon expires. Nice of them to do their jobs don't you think?

hi everyone! Freshly PCS'd. Finally got internet at the house. New baby is a week old(please no laughter :p )
New commisary so don't know how it is here. Its a smaller one, but Ft. Bliss is a little ways away.
This place (well, maybe not this thread) seems more hostile, or something. Maybe just new names that I haven't seen before and not getting their humor yet. :( No more RA for me. Haven't even seen a CVS anywhere either. There is one WAGS in town though :)
