how about adding a shoutbox to the site. how about seperate samples from actual products

Shoutbox for what? 2000+ users come to this site everyday and imagine 50% of them submitting message in shoutbox, ex. advertisements, rude comments, referral..It would be impossible to moderate. As for "how about seperate samples from actual products" I do not understand what you are stating.

I agree with The Boss. I know of a site that tested a "shoutbox" and it just just swarmed with referral BS and was canned in less than a month. The moderators complained b/c it was a pain in the butt to moderate & the admins yanked it.

It's like a real-time chat, but smaller. For an example, go to this site (http://www.tfans.com) (sorry, I know it's a Transformers site, but it's the only example I have) and you'll see:
IB Shout | IB Shout History | IB Shout Statistics.
Click on IB Shout, that takes you to the shout box.
well im a member on multiple nextel forums and they have 2 or 3 thousand members on most of em and the shout box is only for the ones who want to holla and they don't spam

And exactly what purpose would it serve here? What benifit would the Slickdeals community gain from it?
What server resources would it occupy versus the benifits?

It would just be a chat area on the board, and I think it would be hell to moderate. The one post wonders with their referrals will flock to here, spam & never return.
But if it was to benefit SD, it would be like the lounge, but in real time. And the .glock won't get an increase on his post number.

Leave the kid out. Basically shoutbox is the lamest idea I ever heard of.

if we didn't have to worry about referrals and spam, i wouldn't mind it. but that's just a dream, so doubt it'd happen

So since we already HAVE the lounge it would serve no purpose.
