Slickdeals is about finding the best deals and making it accessible to you and your friends. As such, we made a Facebook application for Slickdeals members to easily share deals and keep tabs on the deals so you & your friends won't miss them.

You can checkout our application at <a href="http://apps.new.facebook.com/slickdeals_net">http://apps.new.facebook.com/slickdeals_net</a>. Be sure to bookmark us through your browser, since Facebook has not fix the bookmarking bug.

The Facebook App has most of the functionality of Slickdeals. Here are some of the features:

<div style="border-top: 1px solid #ccc; border-bottom: 1px solid #ccc; padding-bottom: 5px; margin-bottom: 5px; height: 240px;"><img style="float: right;padding: 5px" src="http://blog.slickdeals.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/facebook_main.png" width="307" height="230" alt="Facebook Coupons" /><b>Frontpage Deals</b><br />
<p>The same cherry picked deals that we all come to love. The front page has taken a slight design change from our current site, but should still be familiar for our users.</p></div>

<p>The coupons interface is virtually similar to the main site. You have all the same coupons at your disposal. We will revamp the coupons section in the near future.</p></div>

<div style="border-bottom: 1px solid #ccc; padding-bottom: 5px; margin-bottom: 5px; height: 135px;"><img style="float: right;padding: 5px" src="http://blog.slickdeals.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/facebook_dealalerts1.png" alt="Facebook Deal Alerts" /><b>Deal Alerts</b>
<p>The same Deal Alerts interface you've been using is accessible through Facebook. You can add, edit and delete your deal alerts within Facebook.</p></div>

<div style="border-bottom: 1px solid #ccc; padding-bottom: 5px; margin-bottom: 5px; height: 139px;"><img style="float: right; padding: 5px" src="http://blog.slickdeals.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/facebook_dealalerts2.png" alt="Facebook Deal Alerts" /><b>Deal Alerts History</b><br />
<p>You have access to all the recent Deal Alerts that were sent out to you.</p></div>

<div style="border-bottom: 1px solid #ccc; padding-bottom: 5px; margin-bottom: 5px; height: 223px;"><img style="float: right;padding: 5px" src="http://blog.slickdeals.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/facebook_pbox3.png" alt="Facebook Profile Box" /><b>Profile Box</b><br />

I thought the #1 rule of Slickdeals is to keep Slickdeals a secret. More people = Less slickdeals for everyone. ;)

um..not okay....ugh..I think it's time for me to start moving on soon..too much publicity..no point anymore...after blackfriday of course first though..but really..SD has already been on TV and linked to Engadget, Consumerist and is the first top 5 results on google for 90% of what you want to buy when you search..do we really need to add facebook to the picture too? UGH.

:iagree: It's getting hard enough to get in on the good deals, and adding this to Facebook means more smash-and-grabbers. *sigh* Oh well.... I was spending too much money anyway.

hey great work! I am responsible for the upkeep of a business "page" I added the app. to my page but all that shows up is "slickdeals.net" under the SD app section on my "page". This app. would be great if it worked on my page that should reach 1,000 users soon. How can I get it to work for my page? thanks!!!!

It appears to be a Facebook thing. Business Accounts (http://www.facebook.com/help.php?page=721) do not have the ability to add personal applications such as our Facebook Application. So until Facebook resolves this problem, just use your personal account to access our Facebook Application.

is there any way for slickdeals to make it work on the business end? I know that it would get around 1000 users from my page alone along with other contacts from other business pages.

From the link that SP33DFR34K posted above, it looks like it's actually a restriction from Facebook, and not something that's broken or can necessarily be fixed on SD's end:

What actions can a business account take on the site?

If you have a business account, you will be able to view and edit all of your Pages and ads created with that account. You can take any action on the Pages you administer, including editing your Page information or adding Page content such as photos, videos, and events. You can also view all the statistics related to both your Pages and your ads. You will not, however, be able to view the profile information of any of the fans of your Pages or add any other applications to your account. Your account will not be visible in search and other users on the site will not be able to find you and add you as a friend.

But there are some apps. that work for both personal pages and business pages. I am clueless as to what how this is accomplished in code but if there is a way a lot would benifit from this great app. Thank you again SP33DFR34K

I've tested our app with a business account, and you should be able to access our main page and coupons by clicking through our app link (http://apps.new.facebook.com/slickdeals_net). However, you will not be able to access the deal alerts, settings section, install our application, or insert our profile box since they require a personal account. There is nothing we can do about this since its a restriction Facebook puts on Business Accounts. The only way to get around this is to make your business account a personal account.

Don't forget though, SDers don't just jump on deals, they also post them. More people also means more deals are being researched and posted. I don't know if it's a wash, but it's not completely negative.

I think more exposure and more information is a good thing, and not just for SD's bottom line. The more knowledge people have the better.

I don't know how many times I would see someone in a store and I wanted to tell them "Don't buy that, there's a SD on the same thing today!" But couldn't because I would look like a weirdo.

Even if theoretically everyone in the U.S. knew about SD's I don't think it would affect the number of deals being offered. I think that depends on independent sellers. If there's an item they want to clear out cheap, it's going to get cleared out SDs or no.

And besides that, you are ignoring the potential positive aspects: if more people are on SD's then there will be more deals posted. So yes, deals might clear out more quickly because of increased exposure, but overall there will be more deals. I don't like having to rely on Selma, Brisar, and Speedfreak for all our deals. I'd like hear from Mrs. Jemima down the street who shops at all the scrapbooking stores and knows about all the deals going on there.
