If people want to debate religion, politics, or other controversial topics, they are directed to The Podium. That is the best place to debate those topics.

Not to mention, we can't create a sub forum for every controversial or popular topic.

it's just as easy to ignore the thread, move on or click the podium (http://forums.slickdeals.net/forumdisplay.php?sduid=17819&f=18) to voice your views on politics, religious or controversial topics.

Or, if a particular user is upsetting you with their viewpoints, you can add them to your "ignore" list. That way, you don't have to read any of their posts at all.

If someone quotes the offending material from the post of the ignored user, the person will still see it correct?

Yes, that is correct. However, one of the reasons we have the mod alert button is so that users can notify us when posts containing offensive material are made. If something offensive is said, let a mod know.
