I am hoping to get a IPS panel display so I jumped on this deal.
The original techdepot site lists the item as 317 after rebate with a $200 ground shipping service ( I guess a security guard rides with the monitor?)
However the actual rebate does not mention where the monitor has to be purchased from.
So whether the manufacturer may honor the rebate (in 6-8 weeks) is still an open ended question.

|Altema||Anyone know how the rebate would work with Amazon? The price listed here is using amazon as the seller, but the rebate comes from techdepot which has the monitor at 320 after rebate. The rebate doesn't seem to mention anything about techdepot, but I'm just unsure if it would work. Any input guys?|

|spacemidget||Went ahead and ordered one since amazon is good about returns. Have been looking for a 16:10 IPS and this is almost half the price of a U2410 after rebate.|

My problem is that the previous Doublesight model, the 245W is labelled on their website as being IPS. I might be mistaken, but I believe in actuality it is just s-PVA. So without reviews of the 245V confirming that it is S-IPS, you may end up getting a different kind of panel.
They are, of course, not the only vendor that does this. I think the HP-zr22w is described as S-IPS on their website but I think it is just E-IPS.

Neither....but this is so far less expensive then the alternatives with the same IPS panel that IF it's a good display...it really is a steal with the $100 rebate..
It's not for gamers...it's not a fast display but that's not why you buy an IPS display. If you do photography, commercial graphics or need wide viewing angles, then the IPS display is far better than the TN displays found in most consumer monitors. This monitor also does not have LED backlighting which is the "great advance" that everyone wants. Again, unless you have full LED backlighting rather than the edge LED lighting in most consumer monitors, you get better color rendition with conventional backlighting...and very few monitor suppliers tell you if they have edge or full LED backlighting (full LED is far far more expensive).

I think it's probably the honest contrast ratio. My 30" ultrasharp is only 1000:1.
A newer ultrasharp in comparable size, u2410 is also 1000:1 and costs a pretty penny more than this. For the price, it's a good contrast ratio. You'll pay a premium to get better contrast.
My recollection is that DoubleSight make pretty good quality monitors. If my memory isn't failing, I thought they typically are marketed more to the business/professional sales spectrum than consumer market.

|waltz78||Shouldn't the user base be the judge of whether it's a front page deal or not? Pretty assumptive and makes it sound like you work for the company or something.... or are just desperate for reps/thumbs up.|

|link626||static contrast ratio is a little on the low side. I wonder if they're just being conservative|

|SlikRick||How new is this model? I noticed there are lot of vendors carrying this model, but there are no reviews of this monitor. Anywhere.|

I laughed when I was reading the description on Amazon.com page.
Good price but I will wait until someone can provide some positive review for the product and rebate : /

DoubleSight DS-245V 24" S-IPS monitor - $278.99 after rebate
Front page pricing!!!!
This is a 24" S-IPS (not TN or 6 bit IPS) monitor with full 1920X1200 (that's 16:10 not 16:9).
Note: I haven't been able to find any reviews for this display yet...and this is a relatively unknown vendor....but the price is almost irresistable and that's what this forum is all about.
Amazon Price: $378.99 with free shipping here
Rebate coupon for $100 here
Must purchase by July 31 for the rebate.
