You're not going to get the variety you want from this game because it probably is more like Reach than 3, but still worth a looksie at some point because it plays pretty well.

And for the record, I'm not a Halo hater either. To me, Halo 2 for its time was and probably will be much better than any iteration of COD, but the past few iterations seemed to have failed to innovate and avoid becoming "old", kinda like the COD series is starting to do now as well.

I'm not a COD hater in the least, I played upwards of 14 days of MW3 over an 8 month period and a lot of MW2 back when it was new as well. Keeping things fresh is always a good thing, but if you know you're not going to like it as much as a game you already have then don't waste the monies because it will more than likely collect dust.

Also, i'm not so sure it takes an unintelligent person to successfully sneak up on a group of 3 guys. It might not be sound strategy in a halo game, but all that tells me is that there's little to no reward for stealthy of cunning gameplay. The motion sensor only further reinforces that fact.
As for the 5 shots comment, yes it is only 5 shots for the slow shooting DMR, assuming the final one is a headshot, otherwise its 7 shots for the DMR, 12 for the carbine, 19 for the 3 round burst battle rifle, 16 for the assault rifle, 8 for the pistol, etc. But even if we assume headshots, its still a very long process to earn a kill, 13 shots for the BR, 8 for the carbine, and 6 for the pistol.
I get that the DMR and BR are meant to be the primary weapons in the game, but that just results in boring gamplay that quickly grows stale for me. Dual-wielding helped in this regard but was dropped from Reach to try to get back to the roots of Halo 1 i guess. After that, I realized that I much prefer the variety of weapons in COD in comparison, and the fact that I can jump onto a team of randoms and still do fairly well for myself without needing to bunny hop my way around corners.

In COD even shitty players will hit you with enough bullets to get you down before you can cause too much mayhem unless they literally don't know a damn thing about the game. In Halo matchmaking I out strafe/out aim/out think my opponents to running riots regularly.
It is still Halo, but I think that "reviewer" is just butt hurt that he doesn't start with rockets and can't put 5 good shots on other players.

I noticed the Halo 4 deal from tigerdirect, then saw this thread and was reminded of a thread i read on another forum which made me realize why i ended switching from my first mp fps love of Halo to my new fps love of COD:

This game has some great gameplay but some "wtf" moments from the developer side.
-Why is there no 1 flag CTF? Seems a very obvious choice for a map like Abandon.
-Flag carrier being always marked completely destroyed a sneak capture which was one of the most rewarding ways to get a flag.
-Is the flag made of super glue? Why can't I put this thing down?
-This game doesn't have me addicted AT ALL which I guess I should thank them for. There's no incentive for me to "rank up" because by level 10 I had everything I wanted. 1-50 competitive system really needs to be implemented for me to start playing a lot and I would guess there are tons of people like me that feel the same. Currently I only play with friends, 1-50 I would be playing alone and more often.
-I can't change my map vote once I cast it...?
-Why are there maps available that aren't in multiplayer??
-Regicide has a great concept but only truly works with team Regicide. I shouldn't go 28-14 and only win by a margin of 10 points to the guy who went 14-22 and was only killing me as the king. Team Regicide also seems slightly flawed since the king racks up points quickly. I hate when the guy on my team who charges constantly is king because he gets the first kill and becomes king at the beginning. They end up getting tons of points off him because he trades kills or worse and we can't seem to do much except lose.
-There IS NOT ENOUGH AMMO/DMR/BR/AR etc. LAYING ON THE MAP. Holy crap I run out of ammo constantly and I play with a BR primary, DMR secondary and the perk that allows me to start and hold additional ammo. There needs to be ammo for start weapons available on the map or just more of the start weapons on map.
I'm sure I'll think of more. But overall this game is fun as hell, just not addicting and some flaws that seem blatant.

Spartan Ops seems to be pretty cool. I am excited to see some content that they aren't bending me over a barrel getting me to buy. I still think that for the price of the Limited Edition we should have gotten a season pass for the map packs that will come out.

Multiplayer = Reach meets COD
It was much simpler in the Halo 3 days.

I had no idea the 360 was that powerful. I can't imagine what the game looks like on PC (assuming it wasn't a console port).
Halo 4 is a great looking game, no doubt about it. The prologue is pretty flippin' amazing. I think Halo 4's sound effects are it's strongest suit and quite possibly the best I've heard. The assault rifle sounds completely badass...even though it isn't. Haha!
ETA: It's (Rage) only $17 on Amazon.com, a steal if you ask me.

Agreed. Haha, interestingly enough I just went back and played through the coop missions on Rage this past weekend as well. It is definitely the best looking 360 game I've played as well. Halo 4 is fairly impressive in the graphics department though. The prologue is unreal. Quite a leap up from Reach.
