I reinstalled to factory settings because I had touchpad issues.
I still have issues with the keyboard buttons for BRIGHTNESS and VOLUME. It's like sometimes they are just unresponsive. I know that they feel me pressing because the b from beats audio shows up when I push the volume, also the brightness logo pops up when I push the brightness button, BUT the volume doesn't change nor does the actual brightness.
Anyone else have this issue?

if I have to go around tell people not to buy from company X every time I had a bad experience with a $1k laptop, that would be HP, Dell, Toshiba, Apple, Acer and Asus.
never had a Samsung and Sony so can't tell you much there.

|techalyst||I'm a new user but decided to post because of my horrible experience with this laptop. I also received the COM Surrogate error when I browsed pictures. On top of that, the laptop crashed on multiple occasion during normal tasks (browsing the internet, backing up files). To stay safe I chose to RMA it while still within the 21 day period. When you pay $700-$900 on a laptop, you shouldn't have to deal with those issues the first week you get it. Extremely disappointed. I know there are many with good experiences but I recommend people stay away from this deal. I likely won't buy another HP for a long time.|

Ive already been having issues with the touchpad.
It will just stop working for a while. Well it can move the cursor but the left button won't click. It wasn't like this for the first week.
Also sometimes the volume and brightness buttons are non responsive. They show the beats audio or brightness respectively pop up when I press them, but will not work to change volume or brightness.....

I like it some times. It works some and gets annoying other times. I wish it had the 2 finger tap for a right click. I just never want to click, just tap. Maybe it's just me and i'm picky lol. I wonder if there is an app out there that lets you customize different strokes to do different things. I loved that about the Mac. In fact, it was one of the best features.

Envy is the top of the line for HP, from what I read, it is built much better.
Envy: 7.37 lbs
dv7t: 6.72 lbs

The new Envys are out. I am really contemplating returning my dv7 for an envy. Speced similarly, the Envy comes out $110 more. What do you guys think?

Any ways, going back to the error, here is what I did to fix the problem;
-- Go to http://downloadcenter.
-- Click either 6th or 8th link from top
-- Download and/or execute the file
It turns out that the error is related to the Intel HD Graphics 4000 driver. By default, the version is 220.127.116.11.2626. With the above steps, version will be updated to 18.104.22.168.2696. HP had updated drivers on their website but for some reason they took it out.
Any ways, I hope this will work for every one. Please post your result.
