I can't really give you any tips on finding deals, but i can give you tips on some must-see things on maui.
- go see the sunrise at the mountain top - forget the name of it but it's been mentioned in this thread already.
- snorkel trip to molokini - clearest water i've ever been in.
- road to hana and hike up to the 400ft waterfall - and do this at your own pace w/a rental car
i would steer clear of the atlantis submarine trip though, it was pretty lame.
man i would love to go back to hawaii right now.... loved that place.

Of all the people I have heard of doing it you are quite possibly the first that said they really enjoyed it and would suggest it to someone.
And this is coming from a friend who had a little business that did that for a # of years...

I would highly recommend going on a flight via paradise air: http://paradiseairhawa
It was the highlight of our trip to Oahu, but it is likely booked considering how close you are to the travel date.

We leave in 3 days!! So excited!
Thank you all for your information and tips. Think we're gonna lean towards not doing the timeshare. Like someone had said, it's time on our honeymoon that we'd rather not waste listening to someone's schpiel. Not passing judgement though--if it works for you, then great!
It wasn't mentioned here (I don't think), but for other travelers: I'd recommend the Go Oahu card. We bought a card for each of us, and for the excursions we plan on doing, it's already saving us about $200.

|jaqnabox||I would say give the time share presentation thing a shot. Try it once if you have never done it. I found it worth my time. And i know what to expect and whats a good deal in the future. I'd book it for the day you check out of your hotel. They usually kick you out of your hotel by 11am. book a 8am session and tell them you have to go back and pack.|

You should really weigh what your time is really worth.
It's a beautiful place.
If you'd like to know of some really hidden "free" places to go, PM me. I'll be happy to give you some ideas. I don't want to mention what they involve besides private snorkeling, etc. but when you live on the islands you learn many fun free things to do that tourist don't have the time to find out about.
I only mentioned the bike trip down the volcano as it was something we really enjoyed and it wasn't that expensive. Persons here feel that they can give "pro" advise against what one person's idea of fun is.
Riding down the volcano involved much more then riding down in a vehicle. You have the smells of the environment, the slower pace then that of a rental car speeding down the volcano, and if you're lucky you get to ride down thru the clouds. Stop & smell the flowers. You can't do that at 30+ mph. Just sayin...

There are numerous places to pull off the road and take pictures/walk around in a vehicle. Besides someone actually driving you to the top, whats the benefit? Considering most people will be suffering a little if not a lot of jet lag...getting up at 3am shouldnt be an issue to make it to the top for sunrise. I just dont know what the advantage is? Certainly not the price!

Save your money for something else. Dont pay these idiodic tour companies to drop you off on the top of a mountain and have you bike down. Its lame, and it'll cost you $50 or more per person.

You truly don't wanna miss any of the Haleakala Bike Tours (whether it be their Sunrise, Summitt Deluxe, or their Express). We lived on Oahu for 4 years. We took the Sunrise Tour on our way moving back to the mainland. It was, by far, one of the funnest things we had done ( including all 4 islands that we frequented during our 4 years living there).
They have their specials listed on their website:
BTW - they drive you to the top. You ride down...all downhill and beautiful @ ur own pace.

At the condo complex we stayed at they had a lady come and go through all the tours they offered one morning and she offered up the same thing.
