|tangerinemixer||I agree with other posters. I generally will recommend public transit in big cities but as you probably already know, New Orleans is not a big city. It's great and lovely and lots of fun but it' not a place where I'd want to depend on public transit, especially with children and suitcases in tow.|

I would take the taxi if I were you and just pay the $40.00 cab ride.
My husband and I travel to New Orleans several times a year and will be there on the 18th for a long weekend.
We first did the bus thing but realized we were at the mercy of someone else and many stops. It's just not worth it to us.
Have fun, its a wonderful city with great food!

Question about New Orleans bus service
My family will be visiting New Orleans in October and probably be staying in the La Quinta Inn French Quarter. We'll be flying in and not renting a car, just walking or taking buses/street cars to wherever we need to go. I did some research and it seems the cheapest way to get from the airport to downtown N O is take the E2 bus to Loloya & Tulane. $2 per person. But then it's another half mile from Loloya & Tulane to La Quinta. I tried searching on google maps but I can't find a bus that could take us there. Is that true? Should we take a taxi? The 3 of us will each have 2 large suitcases.
