That's generally how Slickdeals generates revenue to pay for the hamster vet and food bills.

Too bad Slickdeals doesn't share the money with it's user in some way, like introducing any cashback programs and such... not sure if it is allowed either. One can claim that some of it goes to maintain this site I guess..

Web sites like these are just used by companies to draw attention to their products. They gamble that they will sell much more, at a lower price, so overall they sell more product to make up for the lower prices.
Anybody remember back in 2004 when SlickDeals was a hidden gem and companies furiously tried to shut down a lot of price mistakes or early ads? lol

I don't pay attention too much to trends on the front page, but I will say that certain items tend to come up in cycles.
I.e. the Kill-a-watt meter for $17.... hits the front page for $17 and subsequently every time it goes on sale for the same price from Newegg or Meritline it gets front-paged again. But, that hasn't happened for a while. My only complaint is that if an item goes on sale regularly for a certain price a lot, it's not really a "hot deal" worthy of being frontpaged.
The other example was the barrage of SSD offers over the summer.
Stuff from amazon also seems to hit the FP a lot.
I'm not suggesting any nefarious or malicious intentions with meritline/newegg/amazon moving money under the table. Rather, I think the FP mods get a bit comfortable with what items do and do not hit the FP.

Slickdeals infiltrated by Binge Shoppers??
Lately I have been watching posts that have hit the front page easily though the price wasn't dramatically different....
Take the case of the Laminator yesterday, $23 or so with 58 thumbs ups.
Alternate laminator with 100 sheets sells at a low price and better reviews at
Similarly, the "Empty Cylinder" deal the day before and list goes on and on.
Either people are actually buying these without thought or they are lying... I guess it is the former....
People just sitting to buy what they perceive is a good deal, without proper research that a similar product from a different manufacturer with similar quality and expectations has sold for a lower price....
Just my personal thoughts... What do you think?
It goes without saying that if you want to disagree, do respectfully so.
