Looks like Ooma tax/fee recently increase to as high as $8.31+ a month in some area and keep increasing.
It is as high as $100+ a year in taxes and fee now. Some of those zipcode just started including those local taxes/fee in the last few months and more zipcode are adding.
Some of the more expensive zipcode for taxes and fee are (as least based on reported zipcode and there may be even higher one)...
60043, $8.31 a month (10/11/2012)
60603, $7.81 a month (10/11/2012)
20853, $6.9 a month (back in 9/26/2012) increased to $6.94 (10/11/2012)
94115/94118, etc <--- $6.59 (9/26/2012) increased to $6.63 (10/11/2012)
95138/95119/95123, etc <--- $5.5
They are becoming landline now in term of fee/taxes increase. Pretty much can increase anytime without warning.
They have just increased fee/taxes by 4 cents between 9/26 and today 10/11 for the zipcode listed above plus other zipcode too.
Again, there is no WARNING and no email notice about the increase. They will just charge your credit card on file with the higher taxes/fee. If you don't pay attention to your credit card bill every month, you probably won't notice the increase.
Like the Ooma quality but don't like how they increase taxes/fee without WARNING every month or few months. Someone may be paying $3.5 in Jun, then increase to $5 in Jul, then increase to $8.27 in Sep, then increase again to $8.31 in Oct. All without warning and no email before or after the increase.

|Dr. J||I've had an ooma for better than 2 years now with ZERO issues. I pay about $3.50/mo in taxes and whatnot and that's been stable over that time. Their online messaging/CID interface is great. It's paid for itself many times over.|

Ooma says it ain't necessary to do parsing nowadays, but I did it so that I was assured good connection for business calls. I've never had an issue with using the phone and totally hogging up the bandwidth at the same time.
Again, most internet connections give enough bandwidth nowadays that it's a non-issue to do anything special to the router other than plugging in the Ooma Telo.

|Calisland||So, how is the lag with this device? I have never used a VoIP system before. The info states no VoIP is lag free and I understand that. I set up a free VoIP with google voice on my cell phone and the lag was horrible, is it really noticeable with this device?|
