I paid 750-(450 amazon)-(450 discover)=-150
Friend paid 750-(250.99 first Amazon PM)-(450 discover)-(50 second amazon PM=-.99
Not sure how the 99 cents came in but it did.

Without mentioning the name of the company who bore the brunt of this SD.........
I wonder if Amazon will figure out that in general they can sell more $500 items by moving the price up and down between $500 and $750 or whatever. Either way they get $500 after price adjusting to themselves, but lure more SDers who get more out of other price matches/guarantees!
In this case, both Amazon and customers did better by Amazon setting a high price on an item on sale elsewhere, than they would have with a low/matching price.
And at the other end, will any card guarantee ever get smart enough to prevent double dipping? Short of discontinuing the whole program, or putting limits on it (as in, an annual refund limit, or how stupid a price they'll allow, relative to recent prices at the same or other retailers) this will be a tough one for them to shut down. Even if they tracked partial refunds related to a purchase, it's tough for them to prove it's not some sort of combo discount, "scratch and save" contest prize award, or whatever. And if they succeeded, Amazon would just then have an incentive to offer the refund via check, account credit, gift card or whatever, vs partially refunding via the card payment method.
Amazon would be smart to offer a choice of price-guarantee crediting methods. Not sure if that would violate their agreements with credit card companies or not. The good news is that Amazon is big enough that any card promotion changing to excluding them would create an uproar and backlash.

(Not that anyone cares, but I realized after I posted this that I was thinking of JVC as far as mixed quality, not Toshiba. And this really has turned out to be an excellent TV, IMO at least in part to the direct backlighting)

While I haven't gotten the check yet, Discover Claims Services or whatever it's called confirmed my claim was approved for both TVs. WHOOHOO.
Normally I'm not "that guy," but I'd love some reps for my original post suggesting we do this.
