Luckily my weapon can shoot both...
From Ruger on Mini-14 Ranch:
RANCH RIFLES are chambered for the .223
Remington (5.56mm) cartridge. The Ranch Rifle is designed to use either
standardized U.S. military or factory loaded sporting .223 (5.56mm) cartridges
manufactured in accordance with U.S. industry practice..
If I didn't have a few thou rounds already I would grab up some more...

My order shipped this morning. Glad I was able to get in on a decent deal. While 42 cents a round is slightly higher than I would like to pay for brass... at least it wasn't the 80 cents to $1.15 a round I've been seeing lately (and still selling out). They are showing it should be here tomorrow.
In before the Internet ban! =)

Once we get into this judgement of others.. and what they should have and shouldnt have. You start going down that slope of eventually someone judging you. Thats exactly what just happened in NY state.. where now magazines must have 7 or less rounds. Because apparently somebody thought that 10 round magazines were "too much". At the end of the day. It doesnt matter if you have a firearm with 1 round. Or one with 10,000 rounds. If you are a responsible gun owner.. there is no reason for anyone to be worried about what you choose to do with your hard earned money.

b. Obviously your definition and mine of what constitutes "reasonable personal defense" amounts differ. i doubt that a box of 50 rounds of ammo is going to keep the bad guys from gettng me and mine for very long. Some of us (not me) apparently have faith that the Po-Po are going to suddenly have nothing to do but drop everything and come to my house and rescue me... well that is great if there is still a Police Force, if they haven't been federalized to protect some govt building, or they didn't do what 50% of cops did during Katrina and just say "screw it" (which of course is exactly what i would have done and said myself so no worries there).. there comes a point that one must realize that bad things happen to good people - no matter how bad you wish it away ... and that when those times happen its left up to you to protect your own ... becuase i will be too busy protecting my own to even remotely help you...
