phew, I feel like god now. Finally, after many years, I can make an Amazon Indian CRS issue me $100 credit.
It is even better than original deal where we can use credit to buy anything sold by Amazon.

Wow. It took me an hour on Live Chat with Satish going back and forth, but *finally*:
I suppose an hour or so was worth it to get the $100, but it really shouldn't have been necessary from the start!

After showing her the page of the promotion and explains how it works. She went back to talk to her team lead for several minutes. And the conclusion of the "team lead" was that "You have to buy $500 worth of Kindle Accessories in order to get $100 back.You used the GC to buy diapers and that's why you are not eligible for the promotion." Not being able to make her understand that the T&C clearly says I don't have to buy $500 worth of Kindle Accessories, I asked her to transfer me to her manager. After several minutes, she came back and said her manager was busy but she has learned this is a known issue and a ticket has been sent to the marketing department to get a claim code sent to me.
Let's see what happens but this clearly shows that Amazon needs to either train their CSRs better or hire more qualified people who has the right attitude. It's really sad most of them assume it's the customers' fault and avoid any responsibility to the extent of inventing unconfirmed excuses.

We've checked on it and currently, we are not able to determine the type of gift card that was purchased. In this case, the best that we can do is to forward this issue to the correct department so that they may check on how the promo works and sort the best options to get you back on track.
I've checked on it as well and the other option that we have is to apply the $100 promotional certificate to your account to avoid any inconvenience. Would that work for you?
After chatted with 4 different CSs, Erica (from kindle team) solved my problem. Thanks Erica, and F**K the guy who made this promotion.

Look at the T&C Below and the attached picture. The product name is clearly
"Amazon Gift Card - Print - Amazon Kindle Accessories " regardless of the picture.
I am a Prime member and Amazon has been my primary source. If they try to use this trick on me I'll not renew my membership and spend my money elsewhere.

Edit: Is there any way to get any sort of satisfaction from Amazon? I spent $500 in hopes of getting the promotion -- $500 which would have been better spent on more important things (e.g., other slickdeals).
