I also have a Blinder M27 installed in the front. It's worked many times for me, though recently it's been doing some weird things, hence my thoughts that I may need a new one. I live in MA where it's legal to have these. Again, it's worked well for me so far.
I've read about newer guns that some states are using. I don't believe my state has these, but is there a listing "somewhere" about which guns are used in which states?

Yes, since I do not have to have my radar completely hidden due to stupid laws in Virginia or Washington D.C. I want it mounted where it is out of plain view, no lights visible to drivers behind me and wires tucked away to give it a clean look. I would love for you to post up your install and see what it looks like. I have a feeling your install is probably pathetic as well just like mine, but I would love for you to prove me wrong.
Depends on what setup you have right now. In Texas laser jammers have been outlawed and no longer recommended. If you are able to legally posses laser jammers and do not have one at this time. I would skip on a new radar and pick up a new laser jammer instead. Get the radar later on since you already have one which is a decent model in this day and age. Post up your setup and we can make good recommendations with what you should go with.

EDIT: By the way, excellent detail on the horn types. I have an S7 horn on an RX65... good to know it's the best I could get back then. But I am considering a new one... though the LJ may be higher on my list

Great price, great device.
I live in a traffic congested area so no more need for a detector. I just need to get false plates and insurance and maybe a phony driver's license now.

Sorry for bumping up an old post, but just wanted to say that I've owned many radar detectors (love to speed) and the V1 trumps all windshield detectors I've tried. Started with the 8500, upgraded to the 8500 X50, then bought the 9500ix all of which did a decent job and saved me from quite a few tickets. However, the GPS lockout function of the 9500ix was causing a slight 2-3 second delay as it had to check the database before alerting me to a signal. Noticed I was slamming on my brakes quite a bit more with the 9500ix.. Even the 8500 X50 seemed better.
Decided to go a different route and try the V1 after a few months of getting annoyed with the 9500ix. Boy was that a good move! INCREDIBLE range, accurate ramp up, and the arrows are a huge plus. If the source is coming from behind me, I speed up. If I know I'm approaching the cop, I'll slow down. Not only does the V1 save me from tickets, it saves my brakes! The only other detector out there I might consider is the Redline, but without the arrows it's a major step down IMO.
V1 4 Life! No laggy GPS detectors for me
Now if only they could make a completely undetectable, stealth model.. Then it would truly trump the Redline in every aspect.. I hope you're listening VR Labs!

|gocartone||Like everyone else said, this is the same price it has always been. Valentine is the only place to buy them from as not only are they cheaper, they are (correct me if I'm wrong) the only place the one-year warranty is valid.|

I've had my valentine 1 since 2007, it's still very strong. Works great. The suction cups are getting old especially since it's lived through many years of hot summer and cold winters.
I think the false alarms(like driving on highway with random X band) is a nice reminder for me to lose weight on my right foot... i drive usually 80mph in 65mph zones so when I hear the random alarms, i drop it to 70-75.

I have an escort x50. I live in North Carolina and I have recently noticed the state troopers running the k band instead of the usual ka band when I see them parked ahead of me running a trap. They usually just tap it so the k band shows on the detector a few seconds.
It seems some of the smaller town deputies also run a radar that only puts out the k band.
Is the k band enough for them to write a citation or do they then need to hit the ka band radar before they can legally write a ticket?
