|snuggy||On to the next topic. Does anyone have any experiences and/or recommendations on a screen protector? Obviously, in the spirit of slickdeals, looking for cheap and best, or close to 95% of the best.|

Last night, I got it to work like the notebook review thread says. Read that entire thread before you start. It will keep you from doing anything in haste, since things are bios version dependent, and you will get an idea of the kind of issues people are running into. I forgot to check the version of the bios before installing, but I updated it recently so I am pretty sure I am on F43 bios. Now I don't want to check it, and possible go through the fixing the HDD issue.
I did a fresh install with only the mSATA drive in the laptop. And put the HDD in after everything is set and system is booting fine from the msata ssd.

Thanks. I looked through that thread and looks like I will be needing windows 8 iso file. I will have figure out how to get that. Looks like older bios versions had better luck.

Windows 8 USB Installation Media
Intel Rapid Storage Raid Drivers
Disable Secure Boot
Boot off the Flash Drive
Go to install Windows and point the installer to the Intel Raid driver
Should pick up both drives
Delete partitions from original drive (likely only boot partition, can also remove it to not have to do this)
Attempt to install Windows on the MSATA
Enjoy new MSATA?
I was actually planning on this exact MSATA drive.
If you have any questions I'll happily walk you step by step through it. You can PM me.
To jms it has an MSATA port and not a second SATA port for a standard 2.5" laptop drive.

Check the BIOS to make sure it's being read in there.
After that, open up the start menu and type in "disk". The correct option is Create and Format Hard Disk Partitions.
If it's working properly it'll show up in both places.

|jmsatl||I knew this was missing an optical drive and I have a crappy external one I bought off ebay a few years ago to use with my netbook but this thing is big considering lack of it. Also disappointed in lack of vga output. Now I need to buy an hdmi splitter.|
