While I use my speakers (built in, external, headphones, ANYTHING) to play any sounds, it is crystal clear. However, as soon as I stop playing, a white noise static (which sounds like interference?) starts buzzing.
I stumbled upon a temporary fix (which I'm hoping might lead to an experienced user helping me identify the root):
Open the Recording tab in Sounds (this screen http://img1.uploadscre
As soon as that tab opens, the sound ends. I can then have complete silence! As soon as I leave the tab, the sound resumes. As soon as I disable both devices, the sound resumes.
Any ideas? Anything else I can provide to help?

leaving my y560 on 24/7 running Boinc (Rosetta@Home), a/c no battery attached, and no problems...
do have it sitting on an inverted dish-drainer, to raise it a few inches off the table-top and allow for air to circulate underneath...
didn't do a win7 re-install, was too afraid - never having done on a lappy b4 - fearful of losing video and getting stuck with a brick, but did uninstall some things that looked like bloatware...

|ahhitsalan||how do i DL the current AMD (ATI) driver for the video card?|

[QUOTE=ahhitsalan;34992500]How would i know which thinsg are 'bloatware'? I got the laptop yesturday. I am unsure of what things i should delete and such. Also when i leave the laptop on over a period of time the screen freezes forcing me to force shut off. Does that happen to you as well?[/QUote
I had problems with mine the first couple of days with the mouse cursor issue, and I got some bsod's.. I downloaded the current AMD (ATI) driver for the videocard from the Lenovo Support site, (driver won't update with traditional method because old driver is ati and new driver is AMD). So after download, I just clicked run, and when it went to ask to overwrite files, I answered to overwrite all files. After that was done, I rebooted. I haven't had a single issue since then. Seems there were numerous issues related to the old ATI driver.
This laptop rocks. Appearance is great, feel is great. it's fast... Some folks on other threads and posts complained about hinges, cntl/fn key placement... My hinges are sturdy and they hold the screen very steady. I have no trouble at all findng my cntl key when Im typing (and yes I do touch type at 80wpm. Laptop does get warm, but never hot. It is actually cooler than my old powerbook g4, quiter, and faster. I got mine from the Lenovo Outlet for $620. It said it was a refurb, but I would defy anybody to look at this and think it wasn't brand new out of the box.
