New price for i7-960 comes out. See this post.I went to Microcenter in Tustin today to do the price adjustment. The cashier went to ask the manager and the manager approved to do the price adjustment. Good deal.

|Magowin||I'm still rocking a Q9550 with an EVGA i780 ddr2 board so think it's time to make the switch now that SB boards are easily obtained. I'm mad I missed the i7 2600k deal last week but have to make sure I find someone to buy what I have first to make the switch.|

|Donkiluminate||I don't know if this is the place to ask but I have a ASUS G73 with a i7 720. Will this 960 fit or do I need a mobile specific i7?|

pretty slickdeal if it wasn't for tax. i'm one of the unfortunate ones who amazon tax.
btw...you guys who buy i7, WTF do you do with your pc? my understanding is the top tier cpus are usually intended for extreme gaming or media purposes (photoshop, bluray/movie re-encodes, MATLAB, etc)

I agree. If you have a dated system with a need to upgrade SB is the way to go. But with a good deal on a Bloomfield chip you can buy other stuff for your new build instead of putting that money towards a SB CPU. i7 Bloomfield is still a good chip and real good with a deal on it.
I will pass on SB as I have X58 and P55 systems that still run great.
At the end of 2012 start of 2013 will look at the Ivy bridge refresh (if its happening then) and see where things are at.
