There are applications that will automatically turn off your touchpad only when you type. Touch Freeze is one of them (I also have this laptop)

if your drivers are updated for the 1410, the touch pad should timeout when typing.
and if you are using the 1810tray fan control, your fan noise will be greatly reduced (unless u are doing something very cpu intensive)

I've had this (what I call a netbook) for a few months. It's been great! It's traveled all over the world with me. The only drawback is that it is the 32 bit version of Win7. The drivers are available on the Hannspree website if one purchases a 64 bit upgrade. If you upgrade the RAM to 4 gb, then you need the 64bit version to recognize all the memory.
I haven't upgraded either the memory or the OS. I haven't needed to.
The screen is excellent quality. The HDMI out is a bonus and works perfect!
Yes the cursor jumps if you even look at the touchpad while typing. There is a button just below the touchpad to disable it. My came with the touchpad disabled and I thought it was defective at first.
Another bonus: it has a slot to put in a SIM card! You can take the SIM card out of your phone and surf the web from anywhere that has cell phone service!
For the money, this is the best dealio on a netbook, and you have the larger screen. I know 2 others who bought this, and they are satisfied. I paid $299.00USD plus shipping through Geeks.com and it is a refurb. 1 person I know got theirs through MWave, and it is a refurb. The other person used Geeks.com as well. You can't tell it's a refurb.
It does not come with a recovery disc! (very annoying to me!)

|bjsguess||Another Hannspree satisfied customer. Can't comment on the laptop but my monitor output is comparable to the Samsung it replaced ... for a fraction of the cost. Nothing but happy with Hannspree so far.|

Do this by configuring trackpad options through control panel. If you need better instruction, let me know.
