All the Most Recent Graphic Driver choices (8/31/2014)
(note:Regarding 14.8 14.7RC3, 14.6RC2, & 14.6b1 you lose "enable dual graphics" menu option in CCC, and there is loss of fixed mode muxed graphics capability. 14.4WHQL is the last driver to work properly for those functions.)
NOTE 2: I recently understood that all past drivers lose ability to crossfire so no more 6720G2 capability. Only single gfx (6650m) is functioning, but that's ok since 80-90% games functioned better&faster with crossfire off.

...wait for 14.9 to see if anything changes about ccc enable dual gfx option & switchable gfx options.
(Below is another mod using 13.12+ 14.6 game profiles, but it may only be for Intel+AMD since it's called "ENDURO-Fix" ; The modder stated it has best gaming performance, but I've never tested it, so YMMV...and anyways this one may not be for AMD APU gfx.??unsure??)

I usually uninstall using control panel (program uninstall), or you can use revouninstaller or iorbit uninstaller. Then I continue like your steps 2&3, but I install as admin,13.4 and then reboot & overlap install 14.4.
I always install 13.4 first so I can configure the switchable gfx menu apps (the apps that later become locked to power save in later ccc versions eg. firefox browser, google chrome, wmc, MPC video players, skype, etc; I select either high performance or based on power source but they cannot be changed again unless clean installed; some apps are stuck in power save like mpc hc & vlc. ).example >>http://s15.postimg.org/d7lxqfguj/mor...cked_items.jpg
So, Then continue exactly like your steps 5-8 and it should work. It's also possible that the mobile version mod made by mahmoud isn't working properly or as well as other drivers on our laptop...but it should work since all his other driver mods are good.

Do I still need to install 13.4 and the install the modded 14.4 over it or can I just do a clean install?
I tried clean install, but seem to only be showing the one GPU in msi kombustor (the slower of the two). Using the previous modded 13.12 I could run the burn-in and it would show both cards working. Also couldn't seem to get unofficial overclock to work in afterburner.
Below are the steps taken-
1. Express uninstall AMD drivers
3. reboot in safemode and run DDU
4. install modded. 14.4 (I didn't do it as admin, maybe that is the cause, will try again)
6. disable ULSP
7. install MSI afterburner and modify config to allow overlocking
8. here is where things weren't working, couldn't oc the second card in Kombuster or overclock it with msi afterburner.
Any suggestions? As said in step 4, I did not do it as admin, going to try that tomorrow.

14.4whql SG fix "MOBILITY Version" has been updated to mahmoud elphar's original post of driver. (previously we were all using desktop version)
One user with an Intel i7 4th gen +8850m claimed it to have better FPS on NFS games, AssassinsCreedIV,Crysis games, & better for DX9 games, but not really sure if it will be any different on our laptop. I may not try this unless I get bored one day (since previous driver has been very good as it is).

Driver update: (by mahmoud elfar)
AMD Catalyst 14.6 beta V1 SG FIX May 23>>http://forums.guru3d.c
AMD Catalyst 14.6 RC2 SG FIX June 20>>http://forums.guru3d.c
I'm just passing on info about these new updates.
The mod allows a working configure switchable gfx menu like past drivers, BUT....
I'm sticking with 14.4whql because of a couple major "bad" changes to the CCC. There is Missing AMD Radeon Dual Graphics menu and loss of [Muxed]Fixed mode (switchable graphics method menu). (see pic) I assume the default setting of "enable dual graphics will occur on newer 14.6, but I usually like setting it to disable dual graphics or crossfire off, so I'm skipping this update. Games will probably play fine, and maybe even better for some games (eg. Watch Dogs which has better utilization).
So we have the option to stay with 14.4whql or go with newer 14.6betas.
(I'm staying with 14.4whql until I need newer drivers for a newer game in the future. Hopefully Dual Graphics menu returns, so we can choose to disable dual graphics for single graphics(6650m).)

Driver update: (Thanks to Vfriend)
AMD Catalyst 14.4 RC V.10 Apr 17 >>http://forums.guru3d.c
I has been reported to have better performance than 13.12whql with working switchable gfx menu. (not sure if it's the best performance of all drivers but it's the newest CCC available despite using previous 14.100 display driver). It's compatible with all Win7x64, Win8x64, & 8.1x64.
Now the bad news: Leekm has announced he is discontinuing posting his modded drivers due to some disagreements with certain people, (which I don't really understand). But atleast other modders like Vfriend are still around to save the day for our Llano dual graphics to work properly. And who knows, maybe the whole thing will blow over and LeekM will be back again in the future. But he will be missed since we all relied on his drivers for nearly a year now.
I installed the most recent 14.4RC1. From a few game benchmark comparisons, I found these to be on par with the best drivers we've used. Sometimes benchmarks indicated 13.11b9.4 to be better by a 1/2 to 1 FPS, but most times they felt the same /too close to tell, and sometimes it was 14.4RC1 that was better by 1FPS but at the expense of screen tearing. All my usb ports are functioning properly, and my LCD brightness control function is working while powered by battery and AC outlet. I cannot comment on how they compare to 14.4 by Leekm since I skipped that release. So imo, the best 4 drivers have been 14.4RC1,13.11b9.4LKM, 13.12whql LKM, &13.4whql.(They are all very close in game benchmarks).

Sorry about the confusion. My USB ports aren't working at all. As far as game performance is concerned, it was okay. I can't really compare it to the others because I was coming from the official 13.4 drivers. Sorry I wasn't much more help than that.
I tried going back to the my old chipset drivers and the USB ports still didn't work, so I'm not sure if it's a problem with the modded drivers anymore.

If same usb 3.0 problem Try a custom install just installing usb3.0 from Leekm's 13.12whql or 14.1b1.6Leekm drivers (links below) . I don't know if it will work, but worth a try & maybe Leekm's drivers install properly while official ones don't...
14.1b1.6 mobility APU version LKM>>>http://forums.guru3d.c
Other than usb 3.0 problems, Does game performance on 14.4 seem very good to you on par with past drivers? (I've been more than happy with 13.11b9.4 so not ready to update yet...)
If you still have problems with usb, I'll ask other users on guru3dforums and see if they've experienced usb 3.0problem.

The thing that is needed to help is to know if what is broken is the hinge, or the plastic inside that laptop that your hinges screw in to. The weak plastic risers seem to be the main problem that owners of this laptop are having. I highly doubt that your hinges broke. If your hinge is floating around, then it's very likely that your casing needs to be replaced (or you can try epoxy like some people have done; I did a full case replacement, which was a lot of work, because all the little pieces, and the trackpad has to be pried off from the underside of the plastic... PITA). If it is broken risers, the difficulty depends on your experience with repairing laptops.
To see the area of interest, you'll have to (this is all from memory, so I may have missed something):
1) take all the bottom case screws off
2) take out the hard drive and RAM (highly suggested)
3) take out the DVD drive, but first remove the mounting screw that you'll find somewhere on the underside of the case
4) remove the 2 flat tiny screws, located inside the space that the DVD drive was in, that hold the case together inside the DVD drive bay (I think I read somewhere that some person didn't do this and damaged their case, probably tried to be an incredible hulk and pry the area apart, not knowing the screws were there... I started doing the same thing... if you have any difficulty pulling anything apart, there is probably a screw you missed!)
5) take off the KB (make sure you take off the KB screws from the underside of the MOBO or it won't come out and you'll risk damaging it by brute forcing it out, and make sure to do this slowly because you will need to undo a clip that holds the data ribbon to the motherboard)
6) undo the clips that hold the other flat ribbons (power ribbon, and I think there was another one... be careful because some of them unlatch by flipping upward, and some unlatch by pulling outward, well, at least this is true on my laptop, so if you force them the wrong way, you may brake them, and they're non-replaceable parts)
7) remove the screws that are directly underneath the removed keyboard (these hold the top of the case to the bottom).
If you decide to replace the casing (top and/or bottom) you should read my 2 posts about my own ordeal with this @#$%$# repair:
I check out this forum every month or so, so if any replies are made I will not see them for a while.

So, after installing the 14.4 modded drivers, my USB ports aren't working. I saw that it said to do a custom install of LeekM's 13.9 WHQL drivers if that happens, but the download link says the file has been deleted. I did a custom install of the official 13.9 driver instead to get the USB drivers, but they still aren't working.
When I go into the Device Manager, I get this:
Can anyone help me out? Thanks.

Ambitio would have to tell you specifics of his fix..maybe his method doesn't require such a complete disassembly.
Here are the hinge part numbers (taken from forums): (but parts are expensive on ebay)
Bottom Case (K53TA) Part number: 13GN7110P020-1
K53BY-1A LCD HINGE L Part number: 13GN5710M010-1
K53BY-1A LCD HINGE R Part number: 13GN5710M020-1
extra disassembly info:
You may have to google for more helpful information, if this isn't enough. Good luck and hopefully someone with this problem can guide you better.

Broken Left Hinge
Do I only have to take off the back or am I going to have to take the whole computer apart?
Any help would be appreciated...I'd like to know what this is going to entail before I start on it.
