|TechIsCool||I find that mine whines only when the computer is shut down. If I have it in S3 sleep it does not whine but I only draw about 2w worth of energy out of the wall|

Well here is an update:
I actually decided to RMA the darn thing and I sent it on 8/27/11 via USPS in one of those flat rate boxes for about $12. I've checked the status on the RMA and it says they've received it on the 7th of Sept but I haven't seen any updates since then. I don't know if they are usually this bad at dragging their feet for the RMA process but in the meantime I bought the 620w Antec Neo Eco which DOES NOT have the annoying high-pitch whine for $30 AR awhile ago.
So in the end I ended up paying about $32 AR + shipping for something I don't even have yet. Lesson learned.

|BrotherAli||If you can wait I would get the antec neo eco 400w, it has been around this price many times. That PSU is way better than this one, its made by seasonic and is based/comparable to the s12ii series from seasonic (pretty expensive psu)|

I wouldnt use shitty power supply just because a failed unit can mess up your whole computer you will need to connect the 24 pin also with the 8 pin or 6+2 pin depending on mobo.
The one here 430w v2 only has 1 of each just because it has so little power. It all depends on what you need/use.

I also experience this with switching power adapters for things like cordless phones (Panasonic), external hard drive enclosures (Thermaltake), even LED desk lamps. Once the load is removed, the power adapter starts doing a high-frequency whine. I assume it's due to cheap quality/design.

|gimp0||oops posted twice by accident, but have one more question my Antec newpower 560W PS had had more plugs on it in the front that were being used for my graphics card and my dvd rw drive...the two extra PS's don't have those...i'm guessing extra wires will be available that are coming from the PS?|

@x_ge0rge - The PS that went up was a Antec Neopower 560W and the new in box one is a shitty best buy brand Dynex one, but I also have one from an old alienware which is an 'Antec Performance 400W' PS. I tried connecting the SATA cable from the dynex to my mobo but i couldn't get it to connect...I am pretty sure they are both 24pin plugs...any advice?
@E4300, I have nothing overclocked.

I am in need of a new powersupply for my pc, I originally had a 560W for it but I am not sure if 400W would be enough power because I have an extra 400W I can use.
2.4 ghz q6600 quad core
1x gtx 260 896mb
4gb ddr2 ram
500 gb hdd
will 400W be powerful enough? thanks in advance!
