I have had a Vitamix for 1.5mos now, holy crap, it's 10x better and quieter too!
You just can't cheat physics. For a really good smoothie, a machine with a tamper is always going to beat a machine without one. It lets you physically push the food into the blade. You don't have to depend on some wonky blade or 5 sided jar, cuz those only work if you follow their recipes exactly and get the ratio of solids to liquids exactly the way they tested in their labs.
Ever since I got the Vitamix, no more chunks. And I don't have to use no where as much liquid as we used to with the BlendTec.

Question for you experts:
My wife wants a juicer, but we have a general inexpensive one. Is this the same as juicing with emulsion basically because you are blending it all together?
I'm a tech guy but I get more and more confused as I dig deeper into juicing/emulsifying/blending with issues like:
1. Oxidation of the juice based on blending/storage
2. Emulsifying/keeping the pulp in the juice
3. Blending/juicing and having chunks etc.
Some help would be much appreciated!
I'm thinking she needs a blender but we want a juicing emulsifer. Am I correct?

Unfortunately there isn't a costco for over a 100miles of me.
But I was happy to see the Vitamix Black Friday Sale - I got the 5200 Super for $499 (that's the one with the 64oz container and 32 oz dry container): http://gotgreensrevolu

|captainken||I went over to Costco to try and get one of the Vitamix 5200 for $374.99 and couldn't find any. Is this something that is usually in stock or are they only available during the "road shows"? I have seen them in Costco before here in Houston but only when they are doing the "road shows".|

The 5200 is what the Roadshow guys sell at Costco. It has rubberized switches (the 5200C doesn't), larger container, and cookbook is included in the box. The Roadshow guys will try to tell you the 5200 is better (they get commission on the 5200 units that are sold but not the 5200C), and have even tried to talk me into buying the 5200 and returning the 5200c. But it really just comes down to personal preference - container size, and whether rubberized switches matter to you. Other than that, they're exactly the same.
And these are the regular Costco prices for these units for the past few years.

Just want to point out that the VitaPrep 3 discussed above ( the commercial 3HP model ) comes with the older standard Polycarb carafe which is not BPA free, which I especially do not want to be using when blending things that are hot.
Vitamix now offers BPA free carafes with their consumer blenders.
