Just picked up mine.
$90 for a 3G device that will also allow me free basic web surfing and to check my emails world wide, What a deal!
|12-03-2011 06:35 PM|
Alright, So I was able to PM to Best Buy (12/02) and Office Depot (12/03).
Attached are my PM receipts.
Best Buy, Plymouth Meeting - Kindle Keyboard 3G w/o SO, I'm still waiting on customer service to get back to me about reward zone points or gift card.
Office Depot, Springfield - Kindle Keyboard 3G w/ SO; I bought warranty on it. It was $15, might as well. Since serial number wasn't on the receipt, it falls under model, so one for the coverage of 3 should suffice. =)
If there are still people who are picking up their unit from shoprite tomorrow (12/04), kindly help out if you can. =)
If I hadn't made it clear already, Target will not price match without an ad or circular. Pictures on phone don't count.
On an interesting note, the units from shoprite don't have the cardboard cover sheet like other retail models.
Also, does anyone know what's the difference between the one with SO vs the one without? If it's ads and $50 cheaper, I can deal with that. w/o ads and +$50 more than the cheaper model, it just doesn't make much sense to own it other than to not see ads.
does the ad one put more wear on the screen even when offline?
does the one w/o ads run load pages faster on 3g/wifi?

here's the upload for 12/03 to use around best buy, staples, walmart today.
What I've found out, all Targets are now adamant in requiring physical printed ad for all Price Matching going forward.
This means, dated receipts will not be honored. In-store photo screenshots will not be honored.
This also means In-store only promo's will not be honored from Best Buy. (we'll need to be careful here. If Walmart and the likes follows with this practice, it could be game over for reciept PM'ing for everyone altogether)
The circular must have it in print or the email printout. Product page print-outs will be a YMMV as that is not part of the 'local' area.
warrington, PA target, denied
abington, PA target, denied
Willow Grove, PA Best Buy - Will not price match $84.99 + tax out the door, but will give $65 gift card + paying $139.99 for kindle keyboard w/ SO.
Alternatives are to PM like I did yesterday for non-SO to $149 and call corporate for $65 in reward zone -or- get SO without price match and $65 in reward zone -or- get SO without price match and $65 in gift card (as explained above)
Have fun shopping people. It's 1.20pm EST as of this post.

|ns6490||Got mine today. ShopRite actually called to let me know that the Kindle was in. I had signed up to pick up next Tuesday, but they let me pick it up today. Thanks, OP!|

i would like to note that all the people doing the kindle fire @ $123 are ruining this deal as store reciepts must be accompanied by store ads... date of reciept holds little merit...
plymouth meeting target, denied; wanted physical ad (no ad available; said in-store only pricing; won't honor if taken picture of sale; they want actual physical ad)
plymouth meeting office depot, denied; said amazon would penalize them for attempting to price match at that price (yea sure).
plymouth meeting best buy, i was able to PM the kindle keyboard w/o special offers to $149.99 but not the SO to 85.99. rep said to email corporate to compensate the -$65 in BB reward zone credits. I have 30 days to return so not a total loss here
wyncote target, denied; wanted physical ad (no ad available; said in-store only pricing; won't honor if taken picture of sale; they want actual physical ad)
bustleton target, denied; wanted physical ad (no ad available; said in-store only pricing; won't honor if taken picture of sale; they want actual physical ad)
EDIT: so what have I learned from this trip? Target wants physical ad's to price match against ANYTHING now and going forward. Dated receipts are no-go.
I could not check walmart. The ones near me are open to 10pm. It's now 10:15pm. Tomorrow's another day. Sunday's another day if the branch I placed my order did not have it ready for tomorrow pickup.

I take that back, I stand corrected friends. Here is the reciept for today.
It is now 6.45pm EST as of this posting. Tri-stater's, you have....
2 hr 15 min til Best Buy, Staples, Office Depot, etc closes
3 hr 15 min before Target closes
Have at it. gogogo. PM away.
I'll post my other one up either tomorrow or Sunday when I can get to it.
question for those that picked up their reader.... does it say 'Kindle Keyboard' or just 'Kindle'?
Nowhere does it say Kindle Keyboard on the box, and it doesn't match the retail box either like the ones at target.
Question is, did I get the right one. I don't want to open it if it's not the same; e.g. Kindle 3G and not Kindle Keyboard 3G. suggestions?
I'm gonna go PM and open that one instead.

Slick most days, but average for a black Friday deal.
That said, I sure hope to get mine no problem.
I'm mostly interested in the world wide free 3g internet connection.
They no longer offer it on the new kindles.

|cell32||That is ridiculous price. it is half price of a kindle|

Sorry, friends. The store I selected seem to be techno-unsavvy (shoprite of Cheltenham) ... they don't know what a kindle keyboard is nor have they 'seen' a shipment come in.
Therefore, no receipt for yesterday nor today. Will try again tomorrow. Worst case scenario, Sunday is the day I'll have something.

...the CSR still refused but at one point he got confused and thought that we were talking about the kindle keyboard wifi only ($90?) so he told me to order and he would refund...which he did. So, it was $84.99 no tax free shipping for the Kindle keyboard 3g with ads. My kindle should be here tomorrow or monday.
Like I said that was a huge YMMV.

By chat? Phone?
did you provide receipt of online order or a screenshot?
For the same price, for sure I would rather deal with amazon than shoprite...

I went to two shoprites, one where I placed my order, the other on the other side of the neighborhood. Both did not receive their shipment yet.
It's best to ask for the manager. They said the Kindle Keyboards were high priced special order items so they lock it away in the managers office.
The front desk customer service reps looked at me funny and said they didn't do online orders. They didn't pay my explanation any mind until I got hold of a manager. Both managers said they're on the truck for delivery either today or tomorrow. So I'm assuming they have only a specific handful of units based on people who ordered.
Question now turns to, can we start organizing names and document in the wiki of people who are picking up theirs today, tomorrow, saturday, and sunday? This way we can have dated reciepts to present for PM'ing to walmart / target / BB, etc, even by state.
My scheduled pick up date is Sunday in Philly, PA... If I am able to pick it up any earlier, i'll post my receipt for the people near the tri-state area.
