|Jaybls||Last I heard the Open Box sale was still on, however they only have Green and Pink left. Should last through the weekend.|

Is that important at all? I'm on the fence on these - so many good comments.

|GregSJ||Thanks for the headsup. I have wanted a thermapen for a long time. I go through thermometers very fast. Now I can justify spending a bit more on a nice one. Plus the 3 second read is way faster than most thermometers. Cheers!|

|Rusty2192||I absolutely love my thermapen. I had wanted one for forever after seeing Alton Brown use his all the time but could not get over the huge price tag. Then my in-laws got me one for my birthday and I was hooked. I couldn't imagine cooking without it now. They were so impressed with it that they ordered one for themselves just a couple weeks ago. Too bad they didn't wait just a little longer.|

Meathead at AmazingRibs.com talks about thermometers and why a good one is important.
Amazing Ribs is probably the best website on the internet for your BBQ recipes, sauces, etc.

|gh188||I thought about it, but my cheap Chinese knockoff gets an accurate temp in under five seconds, and cost me around $10.|

This is a good price (especially for the splash proof version). I have the older non-splash proof that I got for around $90.
Yes, it seems like a lot of $ for a thermometer, but it's definitely worth it if you cook a lot. It reads a lot faster than most of the cheap ones out there. I've read about some $25-30 thermometers that take about 5-10secs but i'd rather get a thermapen.
