The movies aren't technically free. One of the benefits of being an Amazon Prime member is access to a large portion of streaming movies at no additional charge. When you buy a Kindle Fire, you receive one free month of Amazon Prime. Prime membership includes:
- FREE Two-Day Shipping with no minimum order size
- Unlimited instant streaming of thousands of movies and TV shows with Prime instant videos
- A Kindle book to borrow for free each month from the Kindle Owners' Lending Library
Whether you find the benefit in that or not, I can't speak for. I do agree that some of the titles are redundant across streaming platforms (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon) but that's more in lieu of the battle for content than anything else. I say as each library adds more and more titles, we all end up winners.
Besides, if I REALLY want to watch a 10 year old rerun of a favorite show, I'd much rather stream it than pay for a $30 DVD set IMO.

KFU does not wipe the device. It will install TWRP, which will allow you to backup your configuration (it's basically the same as Ghost or disk imaging in Windows.)
Basically what I state above, KFU will install TWRP, root the device and load GoLauncherEX as the launcher. In fact, when you first boot the Kindle after the installation, you still have the option of choosing either the Kindle Launcher (carousel) or Go; you can also reset to either should you choose one as the default.
Basically you lose no functionality from the default Kindle environment, as long as you use the Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper to backup/restore the root functionality. Otherwise, if it's left as rooted, Prime Videos will grey out the "play" button on rooted devices. OTA allows you to have the best of both worlds.

|ScottProdigy||Have to ask, anyone with a rooted Fire have any luck getting around "This app is incompatible with all of your devices." that displays on Android Market? I see this on the web, if I search for something like Facebook Messenger (which won't show at all on the device's market app.) I've tried both the LCD density and build.prop hacks with no luck. Any info appreciated!|

I wouldn't bet on it.
Ebay/Paypal fees have gotten pretty high over the last few years. Not to mention, if you want to maximize your sell price, you would need to offer Free Shipping. Then, you are not only eating the Paypal & Ebay fees, but also the Shipping charge. On top of that, you bought the Fire from Wal-Mart, which means you also paid taxes on the sale. Where I live, that is 7%.....so an additional $14 in taxes.
So, roughly, if you sold the Kindle Fire for $200 w/Free Shipping, you would expect to pay around $18 in Ebay fees + $6.00 in Paypal fees + $6.85 Shipping (USPS Priority Mail) = $169.15 net (Keep in mind, this is based on you NOT opening the box, and selling as BRand New)
You paid $200 + Tax = $214 - $50 Gift Card = $164 (Even though personally, I dont thinkg giftcards should count as money off of the price, but some on here do)
Bottom line, not worth it at all.

|house kitten||They warned me at purchase if it was returned that they would deduct the $50 if I have spent the gift card. Why would they allow you to keep it?|

|contraium||Has anyone taken one back to Walmart? Do they take back the gift card/subtract it from the purchase price? Am thinking about getting my nephew one but can't find out the official policy. 2 different Walmarts just gave me 2 different answers. Didn't find the info on the website either.|
