Dont GET THE USB 2.0 version!

Ok just to give you guys a heads up who dont know about seagate drives..
I just bought 4 from amazon last week for 149.00 no tax free prime shipping. , 3tb USB 3.0 expansion which contain the DM001 these drives that retail for 229 on Newegg with a 1 year warrenty.
These drives will overheat in these expansion enclosures which will reduce the life especially the USB 2.0 version which contain 5 platters!. You must remove them or they will die eventually. Thats why the crappy ratings.. The DM001 which is found in the USB 3.0 version is the best seagate drive out there . It has 3 platters 1tb each on the inside.. The USB 2.0 version has the STAY drive "dont have full model number sorry, but hate to burst your bubbles its been discontinued. because this drive has 5 , 600GB platters which are more prone to failure also is slower then the DM001.
Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money could be 15-20 bucks more and get the DM001 , you are getting a obsolete drive.
This has gone on for 4 pages and you guys think you are getting a good drive , well your not.. If the drive was 80 bucks id consider it. well maybe not since the DM001 is out.
Have a good day
update i just checked amazon they are sold out now and they are selling the Expansion USB 3.0 for 164.99 were 149.00 last week "sorry"
I also took a look at staples , no expansion seagate usb 3.0 . which were selling for 164.99 + 25 off +tax 7-9 days ago.
If you want the DM001 drive the go flex is another option but its not on sale.. Better enclosure
I only spent 20 bucks more going with 4 Seagate USB 3.0 Expansions from amazon for 149.00 vs staples last week when they had the USB 3.0 version for 164.99 after paying for coupons and tax.
Looks like to me they are getting rid of all the obsolete drives CHEAP due to them being prone to failure. If you bought this USB 2.0 seagate expansion drive you did not do your research.. The DM001 drive is what you want less prone to failure , and higher resale valure , better performance ., i would not risk putting data on these , especially inside the enclosure.. this should be a thumbs down thread.
