Picked 2 up earlier. One of our units burned out last night so this was perfect timing.
Thanks OP. TU and repped.

I agree. Good point.
The screw drives are noisy, but If you have a good instalation they seem to last 10yrs plus.
It also has less moving parts and is a simpler design, and is gentler on the door. (This is the low end model and goes up slow which is what I want) I have not had to make a single door repair with a screw drive.
The chain drive has always given me problems. The belt drive just looks like a chain drive with a rubber chain.
When the installer leaves I'm going to load it up with lubricant and worry about it again in 18yrs. However, that sound you hear will be my garage door opener.

Bought online for $109.24 & then took receipt to local HD for price "meet & beat". They did not want to do it at first because they could not find the price online. I showed them the ad on my phone, but the manager said he would only match the price - they would only do the 10% price beat if they could call the store to confirm it was the same model. I told them to go ahead an call & they did. Sears confirmed it was the same one.
I got it for $98.32 (it was originally $175). Now I just have to go to Sears tomorrow to get my card credited back the original $109.24.

Genie is a well know national brand for many decades
What this item was sold out a few days ago. Luckly I just happend to see a repost today (am EST) and placed an order. I took a copy to Homedepot and the manager refused saying Sears is not an hardware store. so those of you who to HD to pricematch/and reduce by 10 % are fortunate. This should be a good unit since its screwdrive, which is usually pricer than chain. Good lucky to all you SD. keep trying as this repost opened a second batch of stock.

Genie Screw Drive Lube
The more the better should cut the noise 50%
I plan on putting extra on my new install and replacing the unit in 20yrs like the last one.

What idiot gave this deal a Thumbs down because you were unable to replicate?
OP gave prior warning of the deal and it lasted a fair amount of time before it sold out.

|sdzc||One thing I just learned about the Assurelink (internet connected openers) from Sears that they do not spell out clearly is that it is only free for the first year. After that, it is $20 a year. Does not apply to this deal, but if you are looking at a Craftsman opener, this is something to keep in mind. They should plainly state this in the comments, but they dont.|

|aviator79||I have 2 craftsman belt drives that came with the house. I have had to do a lot of work to the doors as both were shot due to poor install. One I replaced the entire 4 sections of the door with a wayne dalton including spring. This is a much better door weighing ¼ of what my other ones weighs. The other I had to replace the top panel that had bent where the door opener attached. I installed angle iron to the top of both doors where the door opener attaches to prevent any further failures. I adjusted openers, but it seems due to the changing temp the belt drives seem that they need to be constantly readjusted. I had everything working perfectly and eventually they would go down too far and come back up as if the belt was longer due to warmer temps. Has anyone had any issues like this with belt drives? Makes me want to replace with these, but probably better off just adjusting again as required. PITA.|

|horent135||How Genie compare to Craftmans? My old man always prefer craftmans, but it give problems after like 2-3 years.|

|The.Dude||I have had my Genie screwdrive for 10 years or so, and while the install was simple, it's very loud. I'll never get another one of these again (but it was free using 10% Lowes coupon while shopping for new house appliances).|
