|LiquidRetro||I honestly just use my card normally and never have a problem meeting my 12. I am not trying to game the system. Most banks do have the right to change the type of account you have if they detect misuse. Also remember the merchant is paying a processing fee on each transaction. These fees are higher when you go with the "credit" route vs the pin debit and that is why they can offer the higher interest rate.|

Yes, it is Consumers CU. I don't expect it to stay that high for long, but even if it goes down 1% its still better than anything I have seen, but it's only up to 10k which is OK for me right now. Tip if you're thinking about applying: if you start an application and cancel it (getting past the first page where you enter name/e-mail addy), they will e-mail you an offer for $50 to continue the application. Also, you can get referred by a member for an additional $50 if you complete the requirements in your first full two months. My only dislike, other than the horrible Web interface which looks like a high school programmer did for a weekly project, is that there is no outgoing ACH's Been absolutely satisfied with the service however.
What I'm going to do is just charge $1 increments to my Serve account, which has no fees until June. I guess I could just find like 5 cent items on Amazon and buy twelve of these as well or something. I'm just trying to keep as much $$ in there as possible, and with Serve I'll get it all back.

Single bananas usually work well. 29 cents each or so for me.
My goal with these types of accounts is to direct deposit just a tiny portion of my paycheck (either $25 or $75) and make sure my 12 (or 15) POS transactions total way less. So I am really saving even though the accounts are technically high-interest checking.
My daily use checking account is at the same place it has always been, but pays nowhere near the 4% these CUs pay.
FYI- I believe either Consumers CU or Pelican State CU once had an asterisk on the site claiming the high rate was guaranteed through June 2012.

I have a checking account and I need to do 15 withdrawals a month to avoid the monthly fee.
So what I do is make 15 $1.00 paypal withdrawals every month on the same date.
Not sure if your account would qualify for that, you can call your bank and ask them.
