for the beginning photographer its specs may be less than the T2i, but the T3 is not junk -- it is better than any point & shoot, and is probably capable of much better photos than that photographer can take. if they can live with the limitations as I mentioned (smaller LCD, 720p video, and less max megapixels) that price difference may be better put towards other important gear (flash, lenses, etc)

my T3 with my 30 f/1.4 takes better pics than my friend's T2i with kit, or my other friend's T3i also with kit

not commenting on this deal itself, but the Canon T3 isn't that bad for beginners. compared to the T2i, this one has a smaller LCD screen, video recording only at 720p, and less max megapixels (not that big of a deal).
I accepted those shortcomings, and decided that the money I would save was better put towards a new lens (also sold my kit lens for about $100 and currently using an 18-200 and 30 f/1.4)

Actually, the T3 and the 55-250 are cheaper than this deal. Go through checkout at Amazon and they are $575. Looks like the lens rebates are back for the T3, now to check if it works for other cameras too

The 55-250 has image stabilisation as well. Which does help if youre not on a tripod.
IMO, a good starter kit now days is a T2i with the kit zoom(18-55) and the 50mm 1.8
Then branch out from there.

Looks like you have some T2i info pasted in there OP.
I personally would spend the cash on a T2i than a T3...

|shrimpsiumai||must.. resist.. until T4 is announced so T3i will be cheaper|

|snaggy||Any advice on a good flash for this camera that doesn't cost almost as much as the camera?|

I was waiting for a good deal for t2i or t3i.
Is t3 worth to try for a beginner?
