Your iphone must be from AT&T and unlock. I am not familiar with international iphone, you will have to check on radio frequency and make sure it's GSM. t-mobile currently do not offer iphone.
Coverage is via t-mobile native, which has smaller footprint since no roaming partners are allowed. Speed is ok for me, like dialup modem. Check mail is fine, since you can wait a few second for text download. Streaming like youtube will NOT be good. However, you can connect via wifi at home/work/starbucks for streaming.
This plan is great for people who text internationally a lot, and/or call internationally.

Two more quick questions
1. is this T-mobile or AT&T? Will check coverage in my area.
2. Is the internet speed decent on a smartphone?
I understand that it is not fast, but is it ok for somebody who uses internet for mail, occassional maps application and not video and not audio.
I checked on their website one more time - and they seem to boast 3G and 4G speeds...

You will need to unlock your iphone, and make sure it'll take SM's sim. International texting is free...

Looks like 10 international is not included into these 40 it's additional...
Free international SMS is nice but again looks like ST is better - speed and coverage wise. because SM is only TMo native coverage...
With these speed and coverage 30-35$ will be better value...

Depends on your usage pattern. If you talk a lot, especially international then simple mobile a great plan. If you have smartphone, but only check emails, check few webpages, and talk a lot, then go with simple mobile. If you watch youtube and watch movie a lot but uses less than 2Gig of data per month then use straight talk. If you use more than 2gig of data, then t-mobile is the only game in town.
Note: Using greater than 2 gig of data monthly on straight talk, and you will get call from straight talk CS.

BTW, you can also buy one of their long term plans on ST and save even more, I actually bought the 6 month one to start of with and so far it's pretty good.

Simple Mobile uses the T-Mobile network, so it's as good as T-mobile in your area.
I've never had a problem with it or the speeds when using unlocked T-Mobile phones which use the right frequencies for the faster T-Mobile speeds.
Friends who need the Verizon network in their remote area went with PagePlus, but they had to have former Verizon phones.
