I purchased a slightly higher wattage version last winter and got the high pitched whine but I could easily hear it 4-8 feet away, it was just awful. The first one I bought whines but you can't hear it until you get close like you have seen. Still, I feel like this model is a gamble and I would personally buy a different brand to avoid this issue altogether.

These are pretty quite but fyi the seasonic s12ii/neo eco are quieter. The neo eco goes for around this price (maybe $10 more) from time to time so if you dont need a PSU ASAP and are concerned about noise then i would wait.
Good PSU for everyday user

|brownnote||WRT the high-pitched noise... I have purchased about 8 of these this year, and most don't do it, but if they do, it isn't a big deal for me as I have to be within 6-12" of the unit to hear it. It makes a little high-pitched hum when in standby or off but plugged in.... insignificant to me, but that's me. If you are insane about that, maybe hold off.|

Yes I was assuming the 15% restocking fee which is little over $5. I have Shoprunner so return shipping is not an issue.
I don't really need the extra wattage since I am building a low power system with A6-3500 and 2 2.5" drives (SSD+HDD) + 4GB 1600mhz. I am not even sure if I am going to connect the spare iHas DVD-RW drive I have to this build.
The system I am building shouldn't require more then 165 Watts at tops.
I had to buy a power cord, since Seagate is sold as OEM, which made the actual price $36. Which makes the price difference with the Corsair $16.00.
I probably would have opted for Corsair if I haven't ordered the Seagate.
But for $9.0 I can't make my mind now

|clubs-fl||Some people complain about the high pitched noise with this PSU. I just ordered the SeaSonic SS-300ET for $33.99 on Sunday for a new HTPC I am building. Probably it is not worth returning SeaSonic for this one (just to save $9) since SeaSonic apparently has better reviews.|

|dubbfoolio||I've made the mistake of going cheap on a crappy PSU. Almost purchased this PSU last night when it was ~$40, but I waited and now I get to go cheap on an awesome PSU. Thanks!|

|Kumicho||Hopefully will still be good in another couple days when I get my HD 7500 and additional 4GB ram. Picked it up since it was supposed to barely draw any power (and the H30 has a 280w/250w PSU, along with a low-draw i3-2120), but if there are any issues it seems to be something that would easily fit the bill.|
