The ONLY truths about using a certain racquet are:
1. Use the heaviest racquet that you can handle and play with at least an hour or two easily... never use a racquet that feels "light" to you on first touch.
2. If you are 3.5 or below use an oversized... if 4.5 and above a mid-plus... this is also subjective because the way you string can offset the head size
3. String with the thinnest string you can get that doesnt pop more than every 10 or so hours of play. Tension will also vary greatly so you have to experiment. With the thinner string (17g) start at the midpoint of most people, about 60 lbs for oversized and 55 for mid-plus.
So sorry I cant tell you something more precise but this is true for most sports equipment... if someone tells u this is a great racquet for you before you even hit a shot in front of them, walk, no run away. If he is your pro, then listen to him.

The super cheapos are strung pretty much before they ever reach the retailer, although exact times differ. This means they have traveled, been through different temps and conditions, and yes, have the cheapest synthetics possible in them and they will feel like crap. But they usually have nice pretty stencil jobs since most of them were strung at the manufacture or brand distributor.
Then there are the strung racquets at the retailer, who will string there and then ship it out. This may vary more depending on the retailer than the racquet per se. Some may include it as a bonus, some may ask you what would you like in it, etc... The quality of this may vary greatly because stringer's work ethics vary greatly.
Any decent/tournament player never requests racquets to be prestrung... they do it themselves or have their regular stringer do it to their exact specs.

|rvmehta||hey all - got my head youtek speedpro the other day and it was prestrung (by manufacturer). i thought that was strange as usually only lower-priced rackets come prestrung. my friend ordered the same racquet and had the same thing happen to him. thoughts?|

the first page says men's shoes from 24 and racquets from 30 but i don't see that price at all..
is it shown at checkout or its just that those items are out of stock?

I'm far far far far far from getting there. I'm lucky if I get to play tennis 6-8 times a year, this year has been really slow, maybe 2x so far. It was just a nice surprise.
