anyway, the reason i'm bringing this up is that i'm hesitant to send the tablet back since others have reported way worse issues. so, i was hoping i could fix the screen issue myself. turns out that the left side, where the screen is popping up, is missing three screws (that i can see)! in fact it looks like there's only one on the entirety of the left side. i wonder if i can find replacements myself somewhere. i'll spend a little time tomorrow looking for some in my collection of random leftover screws.

ordered mine on wednesday and it was delivered on friday. unfortunately, it's a c70 with a loose glass / frame on the left hand side. it's not awful, but i do notice it depending on where i'm holding it. just trying to decide if it's worth the hassle getting it swapped out for a new one.
loving it otherwise though!

Microsd slot? HDMI? I don't know. The Fire can be rooted - so the specs could be better than the Nexus and maybe at a better price.

Android is not a hard gui to figure out. You forget people know Android becuase it is on their phone (#1 selling phone OS in the world). As for iOS, i refuse to get into that debate.
I am a parent and i have many friends with kids. i don't know of a single person who "prefers" Kindle interface.
of the people I know who bought Kindle Fire, all of them regret not waiting for Nexus 7 like I told them to.

Most of kids/mom(ones with money and power) will prefer ios and kindle layout.
That is one of the reason why iphones/ipods are popular among females and kids.
Last week I changed from iphone4 to galaxy nexus but I still prefer iphone4 for ios. But I'm keeping nexus for screen size and battery life.
And yes I root and install custom roms on android devices.
both nexus 7 and galaxy nexus are rooted =)
Search for Nexus root toolkit if you want to root your nexus 7.

With top hardware and software, Google has pretty much killed the competition with Nexus 7.

I got c80 version. My c70 (8gb) version was getting screen flicker time to time.
This new one is perfect. No screen flicker and perfect glass.

Just got mine. UPS Ground. Took only day.
It was shipped from local Office Depot. lol.
They should've just let me pick it up and pay me for shipping.
