Most people hate 77mm filter size but I love it because all my filters are 77mm and I can use them on this lens without stepup rings.

|skiumah||Lost somewhere in this discussion is that the 24-105L is built much better than non-L lenses in the same focal length category (e.g., 28-135). This is my main walkaround lens for my 20D.|

|avatar13||I have both lenses, both are excellent but for crops i think the 17-55 is a better buy (for my uses anyway). I found that I often needed wider field of view so the 27-88mm effective view on a crop body for the 17-55 was a more usable range. If i needed a longer reach I would use my 100MM macro or my 70-200mm lens. But for walk around I found I used wider view much more frequently. The 17-55 is sharp even wide open however the only drawback IMO is that it attracts dust even with a filter it still seems to suck in dust but they don't appear in photos. I keep it in a camera bag when not in use.|

EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM: Max. Diameter x Length, Weight 3.3 in. x 4.4 in., 22.8 oz.
Pretty much a toss up as far as size and weight. 17-55 is 0.2 in longer and 0.8 oz lighter.

I used this lens at longer focal lengths and I did not notice any issues.
What shutter speed was used?
LOnger focal lengths need steady hands, faster shutter seed or tripod combined with IS .

Doesn't really change the deal to me; it's still $150 cheaper than the authorized versions, and cheaper than the refurb versions go for as well. It just makes it slightly riskier if something goes wrong in the first year

How long until we stop calling these daily deals? This has been popping up at least 3-4 times in the last few weeks.

|feedmeister||I've seen this for sale at $799 so often that I wouldn't consider this a deal anymore, really. This is more like an everyday good price, but not a SD as many would tend to believe.|
