I've heard lots of good things about this Dark Souls. I'm a masochist and games these days never live up to the way they were back in the day. No save points, you die and you start from the beginning of the game. That's how I like it, it's how I fell in love with video games. I think i'll wait for the "prepare to die" edition to be released for the ps3. I find that the more frustration I have, the more rewarding it feels when I finally get it. All these games nowadays are just button mashing, and winning just doesn't matter. You feel like "who couldn't beat this?" Good find OP, I have a new game on my list of...now 1. yay!

I already have this game and it is indeed challenging compared to other games. It took me a while to get into it. I must have spent like 3-4 hours trying to kill the second boss (Taurus Demon) until it finally just clicked for me. Since then, I haven't played any game but DS and I've sunken over 110 hours into just my first character (on new game+ now).
With regards to Demon's Souls, I have that game, but I don't like it as much as Dark Souls (and have only played a few hours). IMO, the bonfire system makes it a bit more forgiving since you don't get kicked all the way back to the beginning of the stage. On the other hand, Demon's Souls does have all those grass healing items while in Dark Souls, you're limited to estus flasks/humanity, so it is more balanced. Graphics are also considerably better on Dark Souls.
