|IDk12||also, the rebate company sucks. I have done rebates for years, non are denied because I always double triple check my work. But got a missing receipt in the mail from this company. Never buy another product from them again.|

I ordered this the last time it was on sale. I already owned the Professional 5.0 version of the same software.
Uninstalled the old version and installed this one
a) there does not seem to be any real functional improvement in the new version
b) this version only allows conversion. The old professional version allowed editing etc. The conversion capabilities are not that useful -- google and MS Office allow the same capabilities of transferring the most common docs in both directions, so the real value of the convertor is $0 for anyone who has access to Google or MS Office
c) The company sucks -- they called me every week on the phone offering other upgrades or software. I requested many times to be put on their do not call list -- no effect. Never give them your phone number. Worse. I wanted to install the old version back but did not have the original box with the serial number etc. They are no help. They have a funny support policy. x (90?) days of support after you register. Then for 1 or 2 years beyond that you pay quite a bit to have a question answered and after that no support even if you pay. So, my old version was registered (good, I thought), but in the time past support accordig to their site. So, they will not do anything to help you re-install.
Very Nuanced approach to support. I will not buy anything from them again

"PDF Converter 8 includes smart, innovative Logical Form Recognition™ (LFR) technology that accurately converts static PDF forms into editable Microsoft Word forms — instantly!"
So according to this -- yes.

|pokymon||Can I edit PDF documents such as to fill in the name, address, etc. in a rebate form?|

I'm pretty sure this is for non-Pro version. I've had good luck with the PDF Converter Pro versions, and would buy that in a heartbeat, I'll skip this version, although might be a good way to get a discount on the Pro version.

If you want to turn a printed paper into editable text, there are many free online sites like this one that let you upload a file and download text. LINK [free-ocr.com]ABBYY Finereader Online is another very good one.
Maybe those will do what you're looking for?

I bought this back in early September. Am I eligible for this rebate again? The rebate # on the mail-in form for each differ... so yes? No?

Free is Good.1. Fillable REBATE forms attached for convenience.
2. Webroot form is good for purch @ newegg to 10/27. It likely will be restocked on sale.
3. As Atarilynx pointed out the PDF converter works well with existing PDF files. It's not OCR software.
"PDF Converter Professional 8 lets you accurately convert PDF files to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Corel WordPerfect documents with columns, tables and graphics intact. Word Processing Capabilities; Gaaiho Collaboration to exchange ideas and interact in real time; The FormTyper tool converts forms into fillable PDF forms; integrated Dragon Notes Speech Recognition; Combine files and remove or replace pages with drag-and-drop ease. Document Security."

Softwares like this are misleading....They promise conversion of PDF files into editable files.
If the PDF is formatted as a text file...great. But if you have an ancient paper form at the office, want to scan it and edit it as a word document you are out of luck.
PDFs created from most scanners are scanned as an image, not a text file. And these editors are text editors, not OCR recognizers. Of course, the OCR would be in place on a good scanner...but it is FAR from a perfect science.
Anyways, there are some empty promises made.
