|snakecharmer||Great price for this drive!!! I have 2 in my system right now and they are running great. I searched slickdeals for 3 TB and nothing good ever came up until I looked for the Seagate Barracuda 3 TB.|

|SumDuud||Price is nice, but personal experience with Seagate keeps me away. To each their own by ill stick it out and wait for another brand closer to the holidays. Need to get a NAS setup to hold them anyway.|

Just take a look at WD and Seagate annual reports. They are pretty much back to pre-flooding numbers. I don't hold it against them for trying to maximize profits but it is obvious they have a monopoly on the mechanical hard drive market.

I'm waiting to do the same. I currently have an old set of 500x4 so I'm desperate to replace BUT they are on their way down. They've already hit this resistance level once and should bounce lower within the next few weeks. I wouldn't be surprised to see $105/per equiv by cyber monday.

No, pre-flood levels are likely still above their costs+profit and most ppl can survive without these drives, so if we wait them out, they will cave. This is more like us vs. them than them1 vs. them2. But naturally they don't want to abandon potential profits, so they'll hold out as long as they can afford to. Meanwhile, we're not the ones losing $$ everyday while almost nothing moves.
Edit: And they're counting on a classic negotiating trick: keep us pushing down from the top instead of their pushing up from the bottom. They're counting on our short memories to say, "hey, this price is better than recently" vs. "hey, this still isn't low enough yet". So they keep it up, then drop it periodically and call it "on sale". If few respond to that, they have fewer choices.

|Wek||The faster we can make larger SSDs, the faster these mechanical drives go down in price. WD and Seagate have no competition in terms of storage drives, they can set whatever price they wish.|

So, stop buying ... unless you need them now.

Normal price at NCIX is $129 Free Shipping .
I've been buying them at NCIX all summer at $130 each free shipping.
This is only $9 cheaper, not $24 cheaper.
