You totally get what I was saying, though... those cheapies are a huge no-no. I'm not trusting a $5 set of cables for anything emergency related!

Just to chime in here on "cheap" cables...dont do it, they simply cant handle the amps that are required to start a car.
My sons car battery dies recently and a someone stopped to help. We tried jumping with his cheap/light cables and it would not turn over..no horn, nothing.
After towing the car home, i used my quality/heavier cables and the car turned over and started immediately.
I used to have a cheap set and threw them away. But good ones and you will have then the rest of your life

|bondoron||I agree these cables are pretty crappy.|

|sdean||When you use jumper cables, you're desperate. You don't want junk, any more than you want a parachute from Walmart packed by monkeys.|

Hrrm.... good points on the copper, but not sure I need the $40 ones.
What about these for $20: AAA 6 gauge 16'

Jumper cables are something you in NO WAY want to skimp out on. When you need a jump, you need your shit to work!!
If you need them for a backup or something to keep in the garage, fine, but if these are for keep in your trunk emergency gear, don't even consider them. Get some nice copper units like these:
There is a good reason they are #1 in jumper cables.

|Mavrick67||for $4.99, it will make an awesome backup because everyone keep borrowing my "good" set of cables. (or better yet, these will be the set I'll be lending out and hiding the good ones)|
