Honestly, for your kids, you don't need anything better than an i3. An i5 is overkill, bigtime, for kids. With kids as young as yours, you need to ask yourself whether the heft of a 17" is too much for them.

Can anyone provide any thoughts on this laptop: http://www.officedepot
This will be used for my children - ages 8 and 1/2 and 6. They will use it for school work, playing games (not like "gamer" games - kids games that are on the online educational sites), uploading the videos/pictures from their itouches, maybe watching movies on netflix.
Will this do everything they need and last at least a few years until I'm ready to maybe invest in a macbook for them? I was worried that it's only 6gb and you can't add more - but don't really know if they would need more.
Also - is an i3 any good? Versus i5 or higher? I guess I'm not even sure what the higher does ....
Any opinions would be appreciated!

I just got my BF toshiba C875-7303 from Best buy. (it's still for that price, $400).
Does anyone know what the difference between it and the C875-7304 that now shows "coming soon" on Best Buy's and Toshiba's sites? I've gone through the published specs and can't find a difference. I don' want to open my box and then regret it.
The only thing I can tell is the suggested price, with the 7303 being a few bucks more (again for no obvious reason).
Any help figuring this out would be appreciated.
But the thing you have to ask is whethe you want to lug a 17.3 around? If you're going to be traveling a lot, go with a 15.6. If this for tooling around the house, kitchen table type thing, go with a 17.

Is this a good deal?
Its the same as what was offered from staples during BF.

Pretty happy with this notebook. Build quality is much better than I thought it would be and the A8-4500M is really quick for basic work, 1080p video and gaming. The same SKU with an Acer badge is $479.99 at NewEgg and similar model at HP.com is about $599.99. Strange that Target has been the retailer that had the best deal on my last two notebooks.

Even though their review system is showing only 1 review at 2 stars - when u click on customer reviews it actually has 3 other reviews at 4+ stars.

Hey guys I need help.. Really don't know what to do..
I just bought a 4 days before BF a Y470 Refurb from Lenovo Outlet but today it arrived "semi-DOA" the power button doesn't work.
Well the specs are i7-2670QM, GT550M 1GB, 750gb 5400rpm, 14" 1366 x 768 ok. I paid for it $533 shipped and taxed. So this one is going back for a refund.
Should I get another Y470 (Refurb) but with HD 7690 for $599 or go for a Y480 i7-3610QM, 1TB 5400rpm, GT 640M 2gb, 14" for $659
Or anybody knows another deal for almost the same specs/price ??

I figured comparing an A8 between a Core i3 or i5 is pointless for web surfing, Office, and Photoshop. So I gave the advantage to the GPU for 1080p video and games.

Got this for 399.99 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Dell+...&cp=1&l
and this http://www.target.com/p/gateway-1...rm=gateway laptop
for 350 (minus red card and 5 dollar coupon)
I am using one of them for everyday tasks and a little bit of maya/unity. No hardcore gaming (maybe a bit of light gaming- dirt, portal 1, battlefield 1942/stuff i got for free but i have a desktop for bf3 blackops II ect)
Any suggestions on which i should keep? I was thinking the dell because of the brand name/processing power but is the gateway better because of the integrated gpu/apu?
If i keep the dell then the gateway goes to my mom, if not i need to buy her a new laptop just for word processing/internet/email/work. Suggestions are much appreciated.
also keep in mind the dell has no restocking fee but the gateway has 15 percent restocking fee
