Adorama and B&H refurbs are direct from Nikon and Canon (and other mfgs too) and I have purchased from both. Top rated companies in the business.
My .02 cents on those new to DSLR: visit your local BestBuy, Target, Frys, etc. and play with the models you are interested in as each has their own unique feel and menu system. I'm a Canon guy as their menu's always seem intuitive and easier to use than Nikon, but that could be my familiarity with them. For those getting started, take classes or join a camera club/group..it will pay off big time to have a pro tutor you on how to maximize the cameras capability. I swear, a large percentage of people shooting DSLR's know nothing other than Auto setting. Watch the dvd sent with you camera..a great step one. Final note: it really doesn't make much difference what you start with (N 3100, 3200, 5100, Canon T3, T2i, etc., since the end result will be determined by your creativity..and at these levels, they are all going to give you a excellent image (if done right). In my camera group, there are a few people shooting the Canon XS (about 4 years old/entry level) and winning more than their share of competitions..because they know what they are doing. Conversely, we have Canon Mark II users who bought into "I have to have the best..so it will make me the best"..not even close. Rant over

I am curious to know if Adorama is authorized nikon dealer and if this is refurbished in Nikon factory?

|MWA||To anyone who purchased a refurbished body from Nikon: check your shutter count using Opanda! My "Factory Demo" D7000 from Cameta showed up with 33,000+ shutter actuation on the body, totally unacceptable and in no way was this a "demo" body. Someone used this camera for a very long time, it's going back.|
