Tripp-lite LC series (600,1200,1800,2400 etc) power conditioners have been used endlessly with basic ac generators with great results,i was never aware of that warning, but i did just check the site and i see exactly what you mentioned, i only know they work well from many others who have recommended them to me.
the idea does not even make sense, if my generator ( or any other power source have "filtered computer-grade output" why would i need a line conditioner with filtering at all, when an AC voltage regulator for ~$25 would work just fine.
Not sure if they are just saying that for longevity or something, but i know these boxes being used for camping , with 300-400 hrs or maybe more and no failures.
did you try it yet, or are you returning it?

Called Home Depot online sales. Told them that another customer service rep said when they come back in stock (mid-dec) then HD.com would price adjust back to the $199 due to the lack of stock(from Hurricane). At first she couldn't do it (because they are capped at a 15% max discount), I asked to speak with a manager...5 min later she was able to sell it for $199 shipped.
It worked for others as well.

Quieter than i expected, large muffler, not quiet like a honda inverter gen of course, but much quieter than a lawn mower ,snowblower, pressure washer etc.
anyone buying a generator be sure to break it in, change the oil, and drain the fuel when storing it for more than a few weeks.

Inventory has been trickling back in stock at a few Home Depot stores.
However, the price keeps rising ... $199 ... $239 ... $249 ...

Thanks OP, I ordered online Monday and picked up in store Tuesday evening @ $199.
Two commenters have asked a similar question without a response, but I'll try again:
I was reading the manual that came with this generator and it stated that if your refrigerator has a digital display (which the temp control is digital on mine...same way with my deep freeze) then it is a "Solid State Device" and a "Power Line Conditioner" should be utilized between the generator and the fridge. A quick google search for power line conditioner came back with some ridiculously pricey apparatuses...like $700. If I really need something like that, then I should have just bought a $900 Honda or Yamaha inverter generator...or do I really 'need' that. It isn't a surge suppressor, but I'm not knowledgable enough about what a power line conditioner does to know if I need it or not. Anyone care to share some knowledge??

|ColoradoPenguin||Checked local HD and then went on-line and picked up the genny for $199 instead of the displayed $239. I can had my own wheels and hour meter for less then the $200 difference that the same model has with those options. Great Deal.|

Set your alert on slickdeals for generators. There will be some deals at some point in the next 6 months.
