i purchased this 3 weeks ago but i only got around to trying it today.
the neotv screen comes up when i connect this with hdmi along with a message that i need to
push the red button and connect to internet.
None of the buttons on the remote seem to do anything though. one thing i noticed was that there
was supposed to be some strip underneath the batteries that needed to be removed but it wasnt there.
so probably the batteries were engaged and they are now dead. however, i also downloaded the neotv
remote app for my android and that doesnt do anything either. so i am guessing someone returned this because it wasn't working and i am going to have to do the same.
so i bought this for $30 with a $20 rebate and i used a $20 off $50 that i got for those email messages,
the part appropriated to this item on the receipt being $11.50. which means i paid negative $1.50 for it, or actually more like +$1.00 with tax. I wonder what they will give me when i return it. Perhaps they will tell me I owe them 1.50 or invalidate the rebate anyway. I doubt they have anymore in stock to replace the item.

Has anyone gotten their rebates processed yet? I finally reached the point where it tells me that the validation is complete, but doesn't specifically say if it was approved or not.
The whole reason I question this is because I purchased mine, then they went on sale 2 days later so they processed a return/purchase transaction. The rebates did print out, and I entered everything online. Figured it would tell me an estimated date they would cut the check or something, not just that they completed the validation and not indicate if it is approved or denied.

The unit works a bit smoother with their 2nd firmware update. Searching is still slow but they fixed fast forward issue. It no longer hangs with blackout screen.
Btw, does anyone notice a low but high pitched noise from the power supply?

So.... bought this about a week ago for $4.xx after rebate and coupon.
I tried to hook it up to my "TV" which is really a 22" widescreen monitor. It turns out that the NeoTv and the monitor didn't like each other (resolution-wise, I guess) and it wouldn't work through my HDMI switcher or receiver either. No biggie. Hooked it up to my XGA projector that accepts just about any resolution and it let me get through the setup menus. Playing content was a struggle, and no sound due to HDMI>DVI... But for testing it was ok.
So now today I get my brand new 39" Seiki HDTV from sears and hook the NeoTv up, and it shows up on the TV, shows the NeoTv logo while starting up correctly, but then after that the entire screen has a SUPER PINK hue to it. I poked around a bit on google and somebody said to disable "CEC" in the Video/Audio menu so I did. Also tried 2 different HDMI cable. No luck. Everything is pink! So I decided to do a soft factory settings reset (through the menu). Still displays the Neotv logo while booting correctly (not pink), but now it won't display ANYTHING after that! So I did a "hard reset" (button on bottom of unit with a pin for ~5 seconds) and still the same. Shows the logo correctly, no display after that.
This piece of s8$@ isn't even worth the $4 I paid for it. How can it be this bad?! I was expecting mediocre menu's, laggy performance, limited video services, slow updates, BUT I did expect it to work. I looked into Netgear support just to see if they might send me a replacement and it seems that their support is as bad as this product. Probably not even worth the time to contact them to see if I can get a replacement unit.
I've been officially turned off of Netgear entirely. I don't understand how a company like Netgear could release such a "stinker" and not even attempt to back it up. I'm sure they make some nice high-end routers, but I won't be purchasing Netgear again.

I really disliked this unit. Super slow navigating in the menus, searching was horribly slow, and the unit needed to be reset fairly often. Also, it would drop connection to my router occasionally.
Not worth the hassle IMO.
