|Happyjohnny||Did anyone play with that Vivobook S200E and how does it perform? It seems like a good deal...|

|booyaaa||Staples has the Asus Vivobook S200E for $550 this week till 12/8. There is a $100 off any win 8pc/laptop $399+ coupon (http://slickdeals.net/f/5648232-Heads-Up-12-7-12-8-Staples-Instore-Only-20-off-any-one-item-100-any-win-8pc-laptop-399?) valid 12/7-12/8 to take it down to $450. I think it's a pretty solid deal for those looking for a thin, light, 11.6".|

I got the same Acer lightning deal. I haven't played with it extensively because I've been busy, but I did get it booted and cleared off the McAfee and Norton stuff and installed Firefox and Avast! (Avira hasn't upgraded to Win 8 yet ). The boot time is a little slow because it's a spinning hard drive, not an SSD (one reviewer said he eventually swapped in an SSD), but I only shut down my computer once a week, so that's not a big deal to me. It comes pre-loaded with a program that installs the Start Menu button, which I thought was kind of cool (can't remember which one off the top of my head.) The clickable track pad and the Page up/Page down buttons being attached to the arrow buttons takes some getting used to, but other than that I've had no issue typing on it. The battery life isn't great, but it also recharges pretty fast.
Overall I'm happy with it and excited I can now carry a laptop in my messenger bag without destroying my shoulders.

Sorry, which Acer did you purchase?
I got the Acer Aspire V5-171-6422 in the lightning deal, but I haven't unboxed it yet - I live near a Lenovo warehouse, and they're having a sale in a few weekends.. not sure what to expect (used to be nice, but I fear it might be overcrowded and not a lot of things - they had a lot of problems with resellers in the past just taking everything)

|Nike||Wow, glad I didn't go with the Zenbook. I got my 11.1" Acer on Monday morning and other than the Win 8 learning curve, I love it. IT'S SO LIGHT!!!|

ASUS Zenbook Prime UX31A-AB71
Received my anticipated package today! I just unboxed the new ASUS Zenbook Prime UX31A-AB71 from Amazon's deal. It was a pretty sweet deal for a 1080p screen ultrabook. The unboxing and boot-up to setup was all smooth and standard. This was going to be my awesome gift to someone.
THEN I started typing... The keyboard DOES NOT WORK properly! There are a couple of keys that simply do not function! The "D", "Back Space", "Left Arrow" keys DO NOTHING (who knows what other combinations will fail)! This fresh new ultrabook have one of its core functions completely not work. The keyboard did not have to be fancy or anything; All it needed to do was register the pressed key! I tried updating Windows with all the drivers but the problem is still there! I want this ultrabook to work so badly. I even like it, but how can I now?!
How can ASUS who has received many complaints regarding this problem (down to the exact same keys!) not fix it and continue distributing this garbage ultrabook? I Googled the issue and saw videos and comments regarding this exact problem.
Further reading suggests that this is a hardware issue with the soldering or pins for the keyboard.
Come on ASUS, an 8 yr old could QA this and know that the keyboard does not work. What kind of quality assurance is this??! And why so silent about this issue and not fixing it immediately?
The only thing ultra about this ASUS Zenbook Prime UX31A is how ultra-fail the keyboard is. This is ASUS quality here, people. Take a look -- a bullshit.
This whole thing sucks because:
- Opportunity lost on buying other ultrabook deals during Black Friday sales.
- Time loss to drive 7 miles one-way to UPS to pick up package (and perhaps returning later).
- Time wasted on highlighting this issue up to Amazon, ASUS, and various customer support.
- Management and handling of packing/shipping or dealing with returns/RMA.
- Huge letdown for a holiday season gift.
- Back to square 1 with no ultrabook gift.

Did anybody pick this up? I got two. It does have usb ports. one 3.0 and two 2.0.
got these for 499.00. good deal or should I keep lookin for better?

I wish I jumped on the 499 price on BF, but oh well, still a decent deal I think and had nearly everything I was looking for. I'd rather deal with Amazon than the Microsoft store (and I basically got it tax free with the $50 gift card for opening up their card).
