Just wanted to know, Where did you find out that they have different types of batteries (ni-cad vs.li-on)? I called B&D and they told me they both have similar batteries.

so we're supposed to go back in time to buy it?
a 1 time drop over a year ago really isn't a highly useful piece of data

|pkolukula||with the kind of suction power this vaccum has, I am not sure how long the battery charge will last and how long the life of the rechargeble battery would be?????|

I got the Black and Decker CHV1410L 14.4-Volt Lithium Ion Dust Buster from Home Depot for $19 back in May, its identical to this one except it has Li-ion battery's as opposed to Ni-Cads in the CHV1510. The most common complaint with the CHV1510 is battery/charge life. The unit its self works great and for me the Li-ion version holds its charge and has good use time.
But at $37 I would not call this a slick deal.

|garfield00||Just wanted to add my experience with this one, we got it last year (i think last year Target had this on Black Friday for $25 or something). I'm not too impressed with it. Used it good for around 2-3 months and was not too satisfied with the suction. The suction draw peters down rapidly and doesn't stay charged. Not powerful enough for cleaning up your car for example in one go. and to me, that makes it pointless for this to be a hand vacuum.... but YMMV|

Just to chime in...
I was looking for this vac for several months earlier this year and could never find it under $44. I ended up getting the 14.4 LITHIUM model which is very similar but with better options and FAR better life span! It also has a PERFECTLY designed and constructed charging base that only requires you to set the vac on for charging! You do not need to plug a cord into the vac each time to charge as you do with the nicad based Black and Decker models.
Very easy to clean and has washable filters. These vacs are louder than most but not a deal breaker. I would purchase again. I have had several Shark 15v and 18v, Dustbusters, etc...
Good price OP. Thanks for posting.
GET THE LITHIUM! You will be MUCH happier with its performance. It is worth the extra $$ and will save you in the long run! I don't recommend purchasing anything nicad battery based these days.

|gmanvbva||I've looked at this a few times and this is just a warm deal. I ended up getting the Eureka Handheld (corded) instead since it seemed more suitable for car use as well.|

|bimmer||I don't see why this is on the FP, this vacuum retails for $45 at black and decker's website...|

|genkidama20||Even though it's not a "great" price, it helped me pick out a Christmas present. Is it bad to buy your wife a vacuum cleaner for Christmas? Repped.|
