|thisisnuts||Stacks of this available at HD still. Why? Why are they pushing the 48 pk at such a price? Meanwhile I see the 10 pk selling at the usual price. Is it harder for them to unload the 48 pk? Experation date on a pk I picked up says 2018 AAA and 2019 AA.|

|L-Tuned||Repped. Could've just purchase it in the store instead of "pickup in store". Waited f'ing 30 minutes in the "online pickup line" then found out they had a whole stack of it sitting next to the cashier stand lol|

You could also tee up this deal for 50 packs of gum for only 40. I guess it's good if you're going to use that many batteries. Why not go to Costco and get the Eneloops on sale for 1.50 a battery and actually be a tad bit greener for our world? You can recharge them 1500 times. I have bought the HD rayovac specials in the past and I still have several boxes in my cabinet. I tend to use rechargeables for flashlights and wii controllers and toys. Kills me to just throw in disposables for those type of things.
I used my 10 off 50 on a wet dry vac

I consider Rayovac a pretty good brand of batteries, especially for getting great value and durability on things like hearing aid batteries. Really haven't used their AA/AAA much, but pretty sure they're pretty good based on a deal I got as Sears a few years ago.
Anytime a brick of 40 or 48 is under $10, you're doing at least as well as a typical wholesale club purchase on a 2nd-tier brand. So with this being half that, this is a great price.
As for the ability to get free after rewards deals at OfficeMax, Staples, etc.
I'll defend the OP and say that $1 of rewards is a lot different from $1 of cash.
Yes, there are ways to make $1 of rewards worth more than $1 of cash, but it's work and takes time, patience, skill, and perseverance. Quite different from just buying stuff you want and being done. Some of the "free battery" deals are essentially giving the store a loan in exchange for just a fraction of that amount back in batteries, plus of course store credit for the full amount in a month or three. Like now, you can shell out $68 for a handful of batteries at OM, and eventually get the right to spend $68 on other stuff with them. And there's always the crapshoot of how many weeks/months it will be before you see something you want to spend the $68 on or are able to roll the rewards on. Lots of us have boxes of "near free stuff" that we'll never use or be able to flip for significant money. Hence rewards rolling is often best for people donating supplies to schools, etc, rather than truly getting stuff they want. You'd need to roll "free battery" rewards a couple of times without mishap, to get as good a deal on batteries as this one.

|chuckecheez||It's a pretty good price if you need that many batteries. But you can often find sales to get AA and AAA around $0.10 each. Menards frequently runs specials which average between $0.10 and $0.15 per battery on those sizes, as long as you don't mind sending in their rebates for a merchandise credit. You can also get them free after rewards at both OfficeMax and Staples several times throughout the year, so you end up just paying tax.|
