Amazon has just dropped their price back down to $429 again and it's in stock. I missed it earlier but ordered one this afternoon and it shipped this evening using prime.

|40Glock||Oh, forgot. 4.2 also brought an integrated scanner which can check side loaded APKs against Google's database of known malware. It checks permissions and all.|

I don't use Google Now TONS but for what I have used it for, it's really awesome. I hate that it's slightly slower than the old voice search use to be but it's certainly more handy. If I were really into news, stocks, and sports though...I'd be using it ALL the time.
The upgrades are typically just worth it for the performance enhancements and bug fixes.

|ewin8||Android? No thanks. With full fledged Windows 8 tablets out there why would anyone buy this glorified phone OS?|

Tnx for the info.. I'll buy the multi-user.. it looks important - well that's how windows shaped me all these years. Oh well, I guess there's something that I look forward for the 4.2 (tablet multi user). But coming from 4.0 to 4.1 I just don't see that much difference and I don't even use the Google Now even if it is awesome. You know, I used to have this excitement of updating -going from 4.0 to 4.1 and maybe the changes and additions didn't impact me that much. That's me though.

4.2 brought lockscreen widgets from source which work way better than any apk I've tried for the same thing. It also brought a native form of swype which some might find useful but not myself personally. 4.2 brought a couple little cool features like a new camera, screen zoom for the visually impaired, and photosphere which is pretty awesome for taking scenic pictures. Finally, 4.2 also brought multi-user support which is great for someone who may be sharing a tablet since they can have their own setup and data partition separate from the other user(s). Now they can have their angry bird process go untouched by others.
Was that enough for you to realize the updates were big enough to want? Obviously you haven't used these updates day to day or else you'd realize that they were pretty awesome.

Care to tell me what is the difference of 4.2 vs 4.1 that has changed your life and that you really feel very excited about?
Sometimes there are useful updates and most of the time not getting update that you don't really need is just a psychological issue. Its all in the mind. I'm not saying that all update are bad but take a look at 4.0 vs 4.1 vs 4.2... not a difference like night and day nor revolutionary.
Seriously, if one has 4.0 or 4.1 or 4.2 and your device is very stable, fast and reliable why do you still crave for the 5.xxx or 6.xxx if it only add some clock on the app drawer or something not very useful.

I'm sure the TF700 is fantastic. It feels good in the hand. Besides the N10, it's probably a top 3 10.1 Android tablet IMHO. I just think the Nexus 10 is better overall if for nothing else but the immediacy of updates.
