|collegebudget||These are very efficient headphones, I never need more than 60-75% volume on my iPod. Will an amp really provide a big difference?|

And there's no difference between "just listening to music" and the self-proclaimed "professionals" who presume that they are needful of magic beans for uber-fidelity! No such thing.

Grado SR-60 = Open headphones
These are two different types of headphones and depends on your wants. The Sony will have more of a "in your head" kind of sound and won't disturb people sitting next to you. The Grados have a more "speaker like" sound since it's open and has a better/wider soundstage. The problem is that you'll hear everything around you and others will hear your music too, so it's less of a private headphone. They're both very good headphones for the money and sound great. Comfort is a whole other issue though...

I'm mostly concerned with headphones for travelling. I'm willing to pay extra for something nice, but not if my audio outputs (iPod/laptop) are going to be the limiting factor.

|Suspendmix||Been out of djing for so long that I didn't think these were still made. Should have known better nice these were awesome headphones! I had my pair last about 15 years of mobile and club djing. They were aesthetically trashed but worked and sounded great until the last couple of years when one side went out. Didn't bother me since I only used one side anyways when spinning|
