FYI - I purchased items from toys r us store and received a text message saying I saved $10 dollars off my purchase so the money withdrawn from my linked credit card was $10 less than shown on receipt. Great!
However, some items I had to return. I spent over $275 in toys and needed to return some items. I returned about $125 worth. Its been 13 days and no refund to my linked credit card. There is no where on the paypal site to assist with resolving this problem. I emailed Paypal last week and received a very generic response. You need to call 877-569-1113 for Paypal transfer you to their "in-store" purchase department. I asked for a direct number in case I got disconnected and was told byt the Paypal rep that initially answered that it does not exist yet. Paypal in-store rep checked my acccount and saw no refund by toys r us. The in-store rep advised that I need to contact toys r us and see how long it takes them to process a refund. I mentioned well from past purchases its less than 5-7 days for it to appear back on my credit card. She said it may take up to 30 days for it to appear back on my linked credit card.
I asked if faxing over or emailing them my receipts would help. She said no. Will I use paypal in-store card again? No.
I'll post an update. But in the meantime I have disputed the charge with my credit card that is linked.
Has this happened to you?

|mrksale||Had similar issue yesterday at HomeDepot. pay pal confirmed that it was their mistake. I had the first payment option set to paypal balance and back up is checking account. The problem was it didn't try to pick up money my back up payment option (since my paypal balance is 0). I changed the settings now to first as checking and backup as credit card. I don't trust the paypal balance option..|

I was intrigued by a quick payment option using a phone number and PIN, as insecure as that may be. And frankly interested in that $10 off which has expired.
I think I'll wait until this PayPal route matures. Right now being accepted by one store twenty minutes away, and only if the stars align just right, doesn't make this very compelling.

Well, that was a worthless waste of time. TRUS in NY listed as participating. Was there on Friday. Checkout lane has Paypal listed. Got to last screen and it didn't go through. Cashier told me it happened to other people that day.
I don't bother carrying an unreliable payment method. Now I have to cancel the card. Thanks Paypal!

|sodiumred321||Does anyone know if you can use your paypal balance to pay or do you have to link a CC or bank account?|

1. I have no idea about the $50 after tax, I always assume it was before tax.
2. You should assume that you will lose the promo, but there's a chance they will not catch it. I'm sure TRU will give you a store credit for a product return.
3. Yes, I got a $50 gift card and it worked.
it should be valid at any TRU. If you are looking for the additional holiday hub promo, then make sure your mall has one and try to get the extra $10.

|krizko||Any know if this deal is still good on the 21st or if it is expired already? I'd like to use it today if it's not yet expired.|

Yes. My purchase pulled from a credit card.

|Starrx05||If someone can give me quick answers to these. Do you have to wait for them to mail you a card to use this with your mobile #? If your balance is $0, can you set it up to withdraw from a credit card or it's default to your bank account?|

I'm not really clear on how to checkout with a smart phone and my paypal card hasn't arrived in the mail yet. But since this deal expires in 2 days, I don't think I can wait any longer. How does one pay with a phone? Don't you need a physical card to swipe through card scanner? Sorry that I'm not up on the latest technology trends!
Also, some other questions:
1. I assume the total can be $50 AFTER the sale tax?
2. What happens if you return the item? Do you lose the $10 promo? What if you just ask for a store credit instead (would TRU even let you do that)?
3. Can I just buy a $50 gift card? Does that qualify?
Thanks for all the help. I tried looking through all the previous posts but didn't see the answers.
