|needmoreincome||If anyone is interested in the ultrabase 3 or the 6 cell slice battery I have both of them still unopened from a previous deal. Just let me know.|

Just bought and installed 8G DDR3 1866 ($40) from Frys. Taking from the deal
CPU-Z showed running at 1866 MHz. The boot up time (press the power button until see the desktop) is 15 - 16 sec (2 - 3 sec faster than the stock Hynix DDR3 1600). System is Win7 ultimate sp1 and Office 2010 professional plus. When the 16G DDR3 1866 rams fall into an acceptable price, I will upgrade again.
The WEI index for memory increases to 7.7 (7.2, 7.7, 6.6, 6.6, 7.9)
This laptop seems to be more powerful than any of my desktops.
Test method: Enlarge a picture to 200% resolution in Photozoom
1. Core 2 Duo 7200 (overclock to 3.2GHz) took 4.5 - 5 minutes. (2G DDR2 800, SSD sata 2)
2. AMD phenom II X830 (overclock to 3.5GHz) took 3 - 3.5 minutes. (4G DDR3 1333, SSD sata 2)
3. X230 with core i7 took 2.5 minutes. (8G DDR3 1866, SSD sata 3)
This is really really amazing. This little thing is really working like a horse. It is as powerful as a desktop (or maybe it is time for me to upgrade my desktop). The only concern is the CPU temperature: showed 40 - 47 oC at idle or slight load and 63 oC during photo processing. And considering this is winter time.....
Update: Cinebench R10 test score, Core i7 3520M

I'm happy with mine. The keyboard doesn't seem quite as nice to type on as the older models, but still quite nice as laptops go. The IPS screen is great. Higher resolution would be even better, but at this size the resolution isn't bad.
I upped the memory and added a Samsung 830 drive, and all it's a speedy little machine now. Not as sleek or pretty as an ultrabook, but more function for less.

I did not order a 9-cell battery because I had a Dell 700m (bought for $500 in 2004) with a 9-cell battery. I never got a chance to show the long battery life, but the weight always bothered me. And also, the big battery made it so ugly.
We cannot expect a laptop to last forever. Even the latest technology won't last more than a couple of years. But I just want something to show a little bit business style with solid build. We got this low price just because Lenovo purchased IBM computer business and it is a laptop over $3000.

|markoz||Do you guys like the laptop? I am asking the people who have received the laptop so far. Mine is schedule to be delivered tomorrow.|

|crysman2000||Picked mine up from UPS since I missed their earlier delivery. It's a bit heavier than I thought, then again it has the 9 cell battery. It looks awesome, love the keyboard and screen IPS is great. Plan on putting in 240GB SSD and later 16GB ram and it should fly.|

Update: I happened to have two 4G DDR3 1333 (one patriot and one G Skill) to form dual channel. The numbers changed.
i7, 4gb mem and 128gb ssd.
hard disk 7.9
However, the boot up time seems to be 2 - 3 sec slower than the stock DDR3 1600. So I really did not experience any noticeable difference from large memory and dual channel.

Here is the windows experience index. Core i7 does not make a big difference.
i7, 4gb mem and 128gb ssd.
hard disk 7.9
Those guys shared their performances regarding X230. Please note that this laptop can tak DDR3 1866.

|jwong||Lenovo was not charging restocking during the holiday period. Not sure when that ends. However, they say on their site they WILL charge restocking if you refuse the package. Not sure if they can get away with that, but they really don't want them shipping back to China probably!|
